Die Achatfunde in der Provinz Mendoza beziehen sich hauptsächlich auf die Fundorte um San Rafael und Malargüe.Zu San Rafael gehören die Fundstellen CANON DE ATUEL;CERRO VICTORIA;LOS LEONES;RIO COLORADO;CUYEAN-Ebenen u. SIERRA PINTADA.Bekannt geworden sind Achate aus dieser Region als sog. "Condor-achate". Die Achate aus MALARGÜE mit mit ihren äußerlichen,blumenkohlähnlichen Aufbau aus makrokristallinem Quarz hatten in der Vergangenheit den Beinamen "Puma-achat"
