Detailed Description

Wäschertskaulen stellt eine althergebrachte Fundstelle für Quarze dar, die auch als Schmuckmaterial ihren Weg in die Wasserschleifen am Idar-Bach fanden. Ab und an wird berichtet, daß hier nach Jaspissen nur dann gegraben wurde, wenn anderes ( vulgo “besseres”) Material, z.B. Achate aus dem Weiselberg, nicht zur Verfügung standen. Allerdings ist der Jaspis von Wäschertskaulen derart typisch ausgebildet, daß er kaum als Ersatz für “Anderes” herhalten kann. Heute wie damals war wohl der Wunsch des Kunden dafür verantwortlich, was verarbeitet wurde und damit verkaufbar war.
