Detailed Description

Der Freisbach entwässert den Talkessel von Freisen in Richtung Westen. Er führt Gerölle von vielen Fundstellen rund um Freisen, die durch rückschreitende Erosion in den Freisbach verfrachtet wurden. Zu den bekanntesten Fundstellen am Freisbach zählen die Felder rund um Asweiler. Hier können - heutzutage leider nur noch mit viel Mühe - abgerollte Belege der verschiedensten Fundstellen rund um Freisen aufgesammelt werden.

Typisch sind Membrantrümmerachate und orangerotgefärbte Achate aus der Region “Heiliger Brunnen”, Wolkenachate aus der Region “auf Hassel”, intensiv gelbe Eisenjaspise aus Richtung “Freisener Höhe” und Uruguay-Achat-Strukturen, als deren Fundregion die Heide - Gemeinden (Hahnweiler, Rückweiler) vermutet werden. Sehr interessant sind auch Sternquarzbildungen, wobei deren ursprüngliche Fundzone noch nicht bekannt ist. Autor Klaus Schäfer
