Ausführliche Beschreibung

Teile der Gattung Baculites wurden durch Sciponoceras ersetzt, aber anscheinend nicht die gesamte Gattung. Es wurden offenbar nur einige Arten aus der Gattung Baculites herausgelöst, und unter Sciponoceras zusammengefasst.
(vgl. z.B. Fossilworks: dort wird Baculites weiter als eigene Gattung geführt, und zwar mit anderen Arten als Sciponoceras)

ACHTUNG - nicht zu verwechseln mit der Alge Baculites (J.Gruss, 1928) - sh.: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=602340 - eigentlich dürfte eine solche Doppelverwendung nicht vorkommen !
