Beschreibung
Als Namesgeber bezeichnet man im Ober- und Mittelturon drei Horizonte als Puzosia-Event's.
Allgemein erscheinen diese Ammoniten rund bis hochoval im Querschnitt, die Skulptur ist aufgrund der Erhaltung nur schwach oder garnicht erkennbar.
Die Sutur der Puzosien ist sehr fein aufgefächert und schwenkt bei der Umbilikalnaht stark zurück.
Puzosia muelleri dieser seltene Großammonit ist leicht an seinen eng beieinander stehenden Rippen zu erkennen die 5 bis 6 mal je Windung von einer kräftigen Rille abgelöst werden.<brclear>
Zum Zeitpunkt der Erstellung dieses Beitrags lag von Puzosia muelleri nur ein Fragment von 33 x 18 cm einer inneren Windung vor, der daraus rekonstruierte Ammonit dürfte eine Größe von mindestens 80 - 85 cm erreicht haben.
Parapuzosia seppenradensis hat wahre Riesen hervor gebracht. Im Museum zu Münster ist der größte jemals gefundene Ammonit mit über 2.50 Metern Durchmesser zu bestaunen.
Mesopuzosia yubarense ist nahezu glattschalig und der Windungsquerschnitt ist hochoval. Er steht der oben genannten Art in nichts nach. Auch dieser Ammonit konnte Größen bis zu 2.20 Metern erreichen.
