Detailed description

Über die genaue Zuordnung herrscht keine Einstimmigkeit. Während die Gattung bei fossilworks (nach Sepkoski 2002) direkt unter Ammonoidea geführt wird (sprich: mit ungeklärter Zuordnung), wird sie teils auch den Perisphinctidae allgemein, teils einer eigenen Gruppe Ataxioceratinae bzw. Ataxioceratidae (also im Rang einer Unterfamilie bzw. Familie) zugeordnet.
