1 |
Click here on the link Sandbox (best done in a new window, so that this tutorial stays visible - with many browsers this is done with Shift-Click or right mouse-button: "Open in new window"...). |
The page "Sandbox" will be displayed. There will already be a lot of text from other people. |
2 |
Click on the link "Edit", almost at the bottom of the page on the left side. |
A new page will be displayed. It shows the content of this "playground" in a so called editbox, where you can modify the text. Sometimes you will see some weird symbols between the text. This so called "tags" are used for formatting the article and for links between articles. The most important tags are explained under TextFormattingRules. |
3 |
Below the "editbox" you will find a short reference with the most used tags. Open the TextFormattingRules in a new window. |
Now you will see an additional detailed description of the possibilities as a reference. |
4 |
Just do some modifications and click on "Save page" Paragraphs can be accomplished by an empty line. |
The page is now saved and will be displayed to every user in the same way you see it now. If in the meantime another user saved his version of the page, you will get a so called "Bearbeitungskonflikt". In this case your text and the other text will be displayed together. You can decide now which changes should be kept and delete the others.

Click again on Edit and and insert a text in square-brackets, e. g.: [Agate]. Click on "Preview" and look at the result. |
Now you will see a link to the page "Agate". Since this article already exists, you can reach it by clicking on the link. |
2 |
If the text displayed should be different from the name of the page, it will look like this: [Agate page|Agate]. In the first part in the square-brackets separated with a | "pipe"-symbol you write the descriptive text, in the second part the destination of the link. |
The link Agate page is also linked to "Agate" |
3 |
Next you will write a link to a non-existent page: [This page does not exist] |
This will look like: This page does not exist. The question mark at the end is a sign that there is no article with this name up to now. |
4 |
Click on the link with ? (question mark). |
The input-page for the new article will be displayed. You will see a hint "Please describe ... here" an below that an area where you can edit the text of this new article. |
What next?
Test some kinds of formatting text in the sandbox and try to make a table. Before you start editing the real WEB pages, look at how the others did it and try to fit to the look and feel of the existing pages.
