Es gibt viele Krusten-Fragmente in NO Borneo, die sich von mesozoischen Ophioliten ableiten, welche aus abgetauchten Platten des W Pazifik unter SO China und SO Asien stammen. Diese ophiolitische Basis liegt unterhalb Sabah in NO Borneo und den Meratus Bergen in SO Borneo. Die ophiolitische Fragmente gibt es auch in Central Java bis in den S von Borneo und Palawan sowie den Philippinen im N.

Ophiolite bestehen aus Peridotiten, Gabbros und basaltischen Einheiten, die ihrerseits überlagert werden von Hornstein und untermeerischem Vulkan- und Sediment-Gestein. Sie liegen vor als ozeanische Kruste, sind ultramafisch oder mafisch in der Zusammensetzung und zeigen eine hohe Konzentration an Pyroxen- und Amphibol-Mineralien.
