Geology

Kontakt-metasomatische Fe-Lagerstätte mit Erzen um eine kreatische Diorit-Granit-Intrusion. Abgebaut auf Eisen (Magnetit) und Cu-Ag (Kupferkies-Kubanit-Erzkörper). Mindestens 15 Erzkörper (Shinyama, Nippo, Sahinai und Rasa-Omine). Shinyama ist der größte Fe-Skarn-Erzkörper in Japan: 400 x 80m, 550m hoch. Magnetit-Granat-Skarn wurde schon in der Tokugawa Shogunat-Zeit abgebaut, mit Japans 1. modernen Hochofen 1857. Produktions-Spitze in den 1970er Jahren. 1958: 1.04 Mio. t Erz mit 28.6% Fe (die größte Eisenproduktion in Japan).
