Quenstedtsche Gliederung

Bekannte Aufschlüsse i.d. Fränkischen Alb wurden von Friedrich August Quenstedt in die drei Stufen (Lias, Dogger, Malm) und jeweils sechs Untereinheiten, die mit den ersten sechs Buchstaben des griechischen Alphabets bezeichnet werden unterteilt. Sie kann nur auf die Juraschichten Süddeutschlands angewendet werden und basiert auf litho- und biostratigraphischen Beobachtungen.
