Danger of confusion:
Verwechselungsgefahr mit Austinit. Adamin kann mit Olivenit Mischkristalle bilden. Durch Kupfer grün eingefärbter Adamin kann eventuell mit prismatischem Olivenit und Zinkolivenit verwechselt werden.
Distinction:
Adamin ist im Gegensatz zu Olivenit nicht in Ammoniak löslich. Er besitzt eine gute Spaltbarkeit, während die Spaltbarkeit von Olivenit undeutlich ist. Adamin lässt sich von Olivenit und Zinkolivenit mit Gewissheit nur durch eine chemische Analyse und / oder röntgenografisch unterscheiden. Für nicht zonierte Kristalle der drei Minerale gibt der Farbton jedoch einen recht verlässlichen Hinweis auf die Mineralart.

Galenit besitzt eine charakteristische würfelige Spaltbarkeit und ist kaum mit andern Mineralen zu verwechseln. Allerdings gibt es Ausbildungen (Bleischweif), bei denen dies weniger offensichtlich ist.
