Distinction:
Sphalerit ist mäßig löslich in verdünnter Salzsäure, lässt sich von einer Nähnadel ritzen und unterscheidet sich darin von Zirkon. Almandin- und Zirkon-Einsprenglinge ohne sichtbare Kristallflächen lassen sich nur chemisch oder röntgenografisch voneinander unterscheiden.
