Detailed Description

Asni ist unter den Sammlern bekannt als gute Achatfundstelle. Die Achate haben meist eine helle, weiße, blau-graue Tönung und gelegentlich auch rötlich oder rotem Rand. Oft haben diese Achate auch schöne Pseudomorphosen nach Faser-und Würfel-Zeolithen. Neufunde zeigen auch ein größeres Farbspektrum. Gebietsweisen treten teils starke Gipsbänke zu Tage. Besonder leicht sind diese an Erosionsschluchten bzw. Auswaschungen an Hänge zu finden. Gips tritt hier als Marienglas und als Schwalbenschwanzzwillinge zum Teil in großen Stufen auf.
In neuster Zeit wurden neue Achatfunde bekannt die vom Typ her vom allg. bekannten Asni-Achat abweichen und unter dem Namen Berberachat vermarktet werden (siehe dieses Bild). Sie stammen auch aus dem weiten Umfeld von Asni. Wegen der momentanen Sammelbeschränkung wird hier auf die genaue Angabe des Fundortes verzichtet.
