Bei der Evaluierung der Nomenklatur für die Hydrotalcit-Supergruppe, wurde das Mineral als Fragwürdig eingestuft (Mills etc. 2012) und bei der Redefinition 2014 als Mineral anerkannt (IMA 14-E). Jamborit ist kein Mitglied der Hydrotalcit-Supergruppe.

Jamborit kann konzentrisch Verwachsungen von anderen Phasen enthalten (z. B. Millerit).
