Detailed description

Die Mitglieder dieser Gruppe haben eine Kristallstruktur ähnlich der von Calcit.
Dabei ist die eine Halfter der Ca-Positionen mit Ca oder Ba besetzt, während die andere Hälfte alternativ mit Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn (bzw. einer Kombination aus diesen) besetzt ist.
Im Dolomit werden alternative Ca-Positionen mit Mg besetzt und sind nicht äquivalent. Damit ändert sich die Kristallpunktsymmetrie von 32/m auf 3.
