Detailed Description

Die sogenannten “Joons” sind stark verkieselte Gerölle vom südlichsten Teil der Süd-Insel Neuseelands. Sie werden in einem Dreieck zwischen Gore , der Awarua Bay und Tokanui gefunden. Manche Sammler behaupten, daß es sich um “versteinerten Waldboden” handelt - soweit ich bisher feststellen konnte, fehlt allerdings jeder Beweis für pflanzliche Fossilien. Die Joons sind meistens grau, gelblich und braun - allerdings sind blaue und pinkfarbene Töne nicht selten. Der Name des Materiales wurde aus den Namen zweier Sammler kreiert: John Earle und Gordon Auton.
