Geology

Peru ist eines der rohstoffreichsten Länder Südamerikas und gehört bei einigen wirtschaftlich bedeutenden Metallen zu den größten Förderländern der Welt. So lag Peru 2012 bei der Produktion von Silber (3.418 t) weltweit auf Rang 2 und belegte jeweils den 3. Rang bei der Produktion von Kupfer (ca. 1,3 Mio. t), Zink (1,28 Mio. t) und Zinn (26.105 t). Enorme Größe seiner polymetallischen Lagerstätten; daher verfügt Peru über große Reserven an Bunt- und Edelmetallen, bei denen es im Fall von Kupfer, Blei, Zink, Zinn, Molybdän und Silber jeweils zu den 5 bedeutendsten Ländern der Welt zählt. Erdölvorkommen: N Küste und Amazonasbecken.
