Journey Description

Die Schäreninsel Resarö liegt im S Uppland, im NO Schärengarten Stockholms. Von Stockholm aus fährt man auf der E 18 Richtung Norrtälje, von der Abfahrt im NO der Vorstadt Täby aus auf der R 274 in Richtung Vaxholm-Resarö und zu letzterer über die neue Brücke. 1h. Auf Resarö weisen Schilder auf die Hafensiedlung Ytterbystrand hin. Wenn man dann das Straßenschild "Yttriumvägen" liest, ist man am Ziel. Der Steinbruch liegt am Steilabfall der Küstenberge, kurz vor dem Hafengebiet.

140 Jahre Betriebsdauer! Eine absolut klassische Lagerstätte. Es ist die Geburtstätte der Lanthanoide. Der Ruhm der Lagerstätte beruht auf der Entdeckung etlicher neuer Elemente in den hier vorgefundenen Lanthanoid- oder Selten-Erd-Mineralien, die völlig unscheinbar sind, aber den Namen der Lokalität tragen: Yttrium, Ytterbium, Terbium, Erbium, Holmium (n.Stockholm), dazu Thulium und Scandium (aus Gadolinit), sowie Tantal (im späteren Yttrotantalit-(Y)).

Am reichlichsten kamen vor: Gadolinit-(Y), Yttrotantalit-(Y), Fergusonit-(Y), Allanit-(Ce).

Fundmöglichkeiten: Hier haben Generationen von Wissenschaftlern den Bestand ziemlich ausgedünnt. Alle genannten Mineralien sind nach Wilke auf den Resthalden zu finden.
