Detailed Description

Ketito liegt nördlich von Arusha in der gleichnamigen Arusha-Region. 1975/76 wurden dort in einer Höhe von etwa 1.400 Meter in einer Dolomitmatrix mit reichlichem Glimmeranteil perfekt ausgebildete Rubinkristalle gefunden. Die frei präparierten Kristalle haben keine Transparenz. Das heißt, dass diese Kristalle zwar für die Edelsteinbearbeitung ungeeignet sind, jedoch durch die perfekte Kristallform sehr begehrte Sammelexemplare sind. Die Größe der Rubinkristalle schwankt von einigen Millimeter bis ca. 8 cm.
