Historischer Zinnbergbau zuerst durch Seifen, dann in Schürfen und Stollen; dto. auch Kupferbergbau. Schiefergruben. |

Cornwall besteht hauptsächlich aus Granite und Schiefer des Paläozoikums wobei tonige Schiefer aus dem Devon den Hauptteil bilden. Durch die Verschiebung verschiedener Gesteine während der variskischen Gebirgsbildung entstanden breite Brekzienzonen. Ablagerungen und sumpfige Gebiete führten im Unterkarbon zu Bildung kleineren Kohlevorkommen. Mit der kaledonischen Gebirgsbildung vor 300 Mio. Jahren setzten Prozesse ein die ganz Mitteleuropa veränderten. Diese Gebirgsbildung wurde von vulkanischen Aktivitäten begleitet.In dieser geologischen Veränderung und Assoziation verschiedener Gesteine folgten magmatisch-hydrothermale Bildungen innerhalb der Gesteinsspalten die eine bedeutende Mineralisation zu Tage brachten. Nach der Hebung Corwalls mit seinen Granitkuppen folgte auch wieder eine Absenkung mit Meeresüberflutung. Die erneute Hebung zu Beginn des Tertiärs folgten Verwitterungen des Granits die zu einer teilweisen Kaolinisierung führten. Das heutige Landschaft von Cornwall durch die Eiszeiten mit den Wechsel von Warmzeiten als derzeit letzte geologische Periode geprägt. |
