Detailed Description

Bisbee wurde 1880, als Kupfer- und Goldminen in Bisbee entdeckt wurden, gegründet. Die Stadt wurde zu Ehren des Richters DeWitt Bisbee benannt. Wegen des Bergbaus in den Mule Mountains stieg die Bevölkerungszahl stark an. 1910 hatte Bisbee 9.019 Einwohner, jetzt ca 6000 Einwohner.

Früher bekannt als "Königin der Kupfer-Lagerstätten" lag Bisbee in den Maultier-Bergen im SW Arizona; aber berühmt durch seine reichen Mineralien und das Wohlstand bringende Kupfer. Obwohl alle Minen 1970 geschlossen waren, beruht seine Anziehung nicht nur in der bewahrten Architektur und Minen-Landschaft, aber auch in einem einzigartigen Museum. Erwähnt werden sollte noch, daß in der Stadt früher die Hauptverwaltung der "Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company" war. Diese war eine der produktivsten Minen des 20.Jhd. Es gibt eine Untertage-Tour (Queen-Mine-Tours).
