Wichtige Rohstoffe des Landes sind Kupfer, Kobalt, Kalkstein, Nickel und Steinsalz. Im Jahre 2009 wurden in Uganda große Öl- und Erdgasvorkommen entdeckt. Wert Ölvorkommen: 73 Milliarden Euro an Erdölreserven besitzt das mit den Landesgrenzen zum Teil im Victoriasee verlaufende Land.
