Hello António,

unusually well-preserved corals!
My recomendation is not to use any acid on them. Acid preparation is suitable for silicified corals only, and yours rather look calcified. The matrix looks like marl or soft limestone, am I right? You might then use a dishwashing detergent: Put the corals into concentrated detergent and wait approx. 24-48 hours. The detergent might be able to soften marly sediment so you can just brush it off under running water. Don't forget to put the coral into clean water for another 24-48 hours to get rid of remains of the detergent that might have dissipated into the rock. If the method fails (means, has no effect at all - you actually cannot damage those fossils with dishwashing detergent), you should consider mechanical preparation.

The sea urchin looks like a Clypeaster and rather seems to be of Tertiary than Jurassic age to me.

Best Regards,
Rainer

Thanks Rainer
In my collection I have some corals from the same place.
There are so many corals in one hour  you can collected more than a 100;). There are no time to clean all.
The sise is ..
1st box 6x6cm
2snd Box 4x4cm
3 th sea urchin is fron Paleozoico "Sesimbra"
I must say all the fossils are self colleted.

Hello António,

that is a very nice collection!

Zitat
There are no time to clean all.
Hehe  ;) Without intention to bother you: Why don't you just collect as much as you can clean within a reasonable period of time? The quality of a collection lies often less in the amount of specimens than in assortment and quality of preparation... So, rather try to collect just a few high-quality specimens of each species than piling up dozens and dozens of specimens of the same species you know you'll never have the time to clean them all, let alone naming them. Just my two cents (and my hint for avoiding shortage of storage space for your collection  :) ).

Zitat

I doubt that as well. It is definitely a Mesozoic specimen. Maybe somebody in this forum who has a deeper knowledge of sea urchins than I do can even throw in a name and an exact age.

Best Regards,
Rainer

 Hello Rainer
Do you want some fossils from Portugal for free? I believe so  :P
OK there is a big problem or I collecte for all of you or I collected just for myself only? ;);)
The place where I collect them is a cornfield and the tractor roll over them and broke them.
What would you do in my place? Whel I like preservation d´ont you? and I like fossils to.
Rainer when you go to collect fossils you take or collect just one or 10 when you can collecte 100  ;).
If I have no time to clean them well it is not my problem is from any body else.
In my collection there are only just the best.
Best regards
A.Monteiro

Positively no!  8) My primary subject is the Triassic of my region, Triassic worldwide, and fossils I collected myself anywhere else.

Believe it or not, I've been to places where hundreds of fossils just laid around, and I think I left 99% of them for collectors still to come. I just took a few of the best ones with me that were easy to get  ;D Last year a huge road construction project started not far from my home town with loads of ammonites to be found. I did my best to let the members of this forum know about this opportunity. I think a lot of people now have a nice collection from that site, and I have mine, too. So, just winners  :)

In my collection there are only just the best.
I don't doubt that  :D

Rainer
