Welcome to the Mindat.org Conference
The 1st Mindat.org International Conference will be held in in conjunction with the 14th Lwówek Crystal Days festival, three days of mineral shows, events and live music, where the whole town comes out to celebrate the mineralogical heritage of the region. Visitors can enjoy both the Conference and the Crystal Days festival at the same time.
All talks, field trip guiding and other activities will be in English.
Field Trips (11-13th July)
Three days of field trips, to collect Agates of Pogórze Kaczawskie, to collect pegmatite minerals from the Strzegom granite quarries, and to explore the famous Lubin copper mines, over 1km below the surface!

Conference Presentations (14-16th July)
Eighteen speakers from seven countries will cover subjects from "Theories of Agate formation" through "Minerals from burning dumps of coal mines" to "Native gold from Round Mt, Nevada, USA".

Crystal Days (15-17th July)
The conference has been organized in conjunction with the 14th annual Lwówek Crystal Days festival. This is the biggest mineralogical event in Poland (and probably all of central Europe), over 40,000 visitors for mineral show, exhibitions, concerts, parades and entertainment.

Workshops (16-17th July)
Jeff Scovil will be running workshops on mineral photography - bring your camera and learn how to improve your mineral photography. Jolyon Ralph will be running a workshop on mindat.org, how to use it and how to contribute and improve the site.
Mineral Shows (13-17th July)
There are two mineral shows during the conference period in the town. The Town Center mineral show is a regular part of the Lwówek Crystal Days festival, it takes over the full town center, and contains rocks, gem, jewellery and mineral dealers, selling mostly inexpensive local minerals.
The Mindat.org Conference Mineral Show includes international dealers with a wider range of quality minerals for sale.
Evening Entertainment
Every evening, for those not too tired by the daytime activities, there will be full program of parties and other activities, including informal presentations about minerals and collecting to watch while enjoying a great Polish beer or two. From Friday to Sunday there will also be live music and other events in the town center as part of the Crystal Days festival.
