Hilfebestimmung, gefunden auf der Insel Milos

Hello,

I would need some help identifying the specimen below. It was found on Fyriplaka Beach, in Milos (Located on the south side of the island).  There is the Fyriplaka mine, which is mined for perlite, almost above it.

It is quite heavy and its sharp.

Hallo,

ich bräuchte etwas Hilfe bei der Identifizierung des untenstehenden Exemplars. Es wurde am Fyriplaka Strand, in Milos (auf der Südseite der Insel) gefunden.  Es ist die Fyriplaka Mine für Perlit ausgebeutet fast oben.

Es ist ziemlich schwer und seine scharfen.
Ich danke Ihnen vielmals!

Versuche doch mal, einige Anhaltspunkte zu liefern, wie Härte, Strich, Dichte (wie man das macht, findest Du unter dem jeweiligen Stichwort hier im Mineralienatlas).

Interesting find!

As you mentioned, perlite is mined close by. And the white powdery-textured stuff of your specimen resembles perlite.

At first glance, the cementing material looked to me as micro-crystalline quartz. After a brief search, I see that silica is also occuring there - see image here https://www.milosminingmuseum.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Picture-2.png where the grey points indicate silica occurrences.

So my suggestion would be perlite with the cementing stuff being micro-crystalline quartz.

I had the impression it would be perlite because of the occurrences you mentioned above and also the mine being in close proximity.
I will do more research,
