The min­ing area Marien­berg in the Erzge­birge Re­gionAfter the discovery of silver deposits in Christiansdorf - the now called Freiberg - over the time the mining was also expanded on the upper mountain. Thus from about 1240, the tin deposits (with the beginnings of subsurface mining also silver) around Ehrenfriedersdorf was mined. By finding rich silver adits in the 2nd third of the 15th Century the great mountain towns like Schneeberg (municipal law since 1477) and Annaberg (municipal law since 1496) was founded. Grube Al­ter Theuer­dank„Es handelt sich um einen einfach gebauten Spaltengang von durchschnittlich 0,2-0,6 m Mächtigkeit mit deutlich ausgebildeten Salbändern. Begleitet wird der Hauptgang von einigen ins Liegende ablaufende, bogenförmige Nebentrümer, auf denen u.a. die Grube Alter Theuerdank gebaut hat. Über Tage ist der Ausbiss an Pingen und Schürflöchern gut zu erkennen. Wie Harnischflächen belegen, stellt der Reiche Troster Gang eine Abschiebung dar, wobei die hangende Scholle mit einem Versatzbetrag von wenigen Metern abgesunken ist. Er kann als eine diagonale Verbindung ("Diagonaltrum") zwischen dem Wennsglücker Gang im Norden und dem St. Jacobsglücker Gang im Süden aufgefasst werden.... Sil­ver - min­er­al­o­gy, min­ing and his­to­rySilver and silver minerals are amongst the most desirabe objects since the beginning of mineral collecting. Silver wires and curls from Kongsberg and Freiberg are the coronation of each mineral collection. Beautiful pyrargyrites and proustites enhance each collector's heatbeat.

However, silver is not only the essence of high-end collecting but has contributed essentially to the history of mankind. Uncountable remain the millions of greek and phenician slaves, middle age european miners and millions of indios who have left their lives for silver.

Silver is one of the seven metals known since thousands of years, already been mentioned in the bible. Mountains of slag in Asia Minor, Arabia and on the agaen islands prove technologies to produce silver from lead ore; knowledges people had been acquainted with since at least 4.000 year B.C. Since the antiquity silver had been used to make finery and ornaments, however, most of this metal was used to stamp coins. The monetary system of many countries was based on silver; the one, who owned silver, was able to finance wars. One of the main pillars of power of Athens, Rome, the Phenicians, the church, the kings and queens of Castilia, the Austrian house of Habsburg and, last not least, of the Americans had been their control over the richest silver mines and the wars, which they made by paying their soldiery with silver coins.

Min­er­al por­trait ara­g­onite (ger­man)Aragonite is a calcium carbonate, chemically identical with calcite. The mineral calcite, however, differs from Aragonite due to its internal crystal structure. While the crystal system of calcite is trigonal, the system of aragonite is rhombic. Dense masses of small aragonite crystals are difficult to distinguish from calcite, but they are larger, they show a distinct habit.

Grube Jo­han­nesschacht im Wölsen­dor­fer Re­vi­erDie Grube Johanneschacht hatte eine der wenigen Aufbereitungsanlagen im Wölsendorfer Revier und daher wurde auch Rohmaterial von anderen Gruben hier angeliefert. Das waren: Grube Max, Grube Hanns und die Aufschlußgrube Lissenthan. Bedeutet das nicht alle Stufen die den Namen Johannesschacht tragen auch aus dieser Grube stammen. Angebote sollten kritisch hinterfragt werden.
Stufen die auf Halde gefunden wurden oder im über Tage Bereich bekommen als Fundortbezeichnung "Halde der Grube Johannesschacht" oder "über Tage Fund Grube Johannesschacht", u.U. noch mit einem entsprechenden Hinweis.
1929 wird erwähnt, daß bis zu einer Teufe von 28 Meter grobspätiger Stinkspat vorgefunden wurde. Uranmineralien wurden erst ab einer Teufe von 18 m angetroffen.
