Min­er­alien­por­trait GoethitAuf den ersten Blick erscheint es ungewöhnlich, gleichzeitig etwas über ein anerkanntes Mineral wie Goethit und über seine berühmten, jedoch nicht als Mineralspezies akzeptierten Abkömmlinge Limonit, Ocker und Raseneisenerz, sowie einige seltenere Varianten der limonitischen Familie, ja selbst über Gesteine zu lesen. Auf den zweiten Blick erkennt man jedoch, dass in diesem Portrait der Versuch unternommen wird, einmal der Tradition der bekannten Lehrbücher zu folgen, welche Goethit und Limonit wegen ihrer Verwandschaft zumeist gemeinsam betrachten, andererseits dem Mineraliensammler entgegenzukommen, für welchen Limonit - ob Gemisch, Gemenge oder Gestein - seit eh und je zu den eigenständigen Mineralien zählt... But even in our daily life calcite is always present: in some regions it blockes water pipes as "chalk", we build our houses with it, it is in our food chain and without it we could not stand upright.

Calcite is not rare, but the varied mineral on Earth. The variety of forms and variations of the forms of calcite are unmatched in the world of mineralogy. By 2009, more than 800 Calcit forms have been described.

ZincIin 1546 Georgius Agricola reported about a white metal which is fused to the Rammelsberg lead and silver melter and that you could scrape off. He called this metal "contrefey", because it could imitate gold. Agricola did not recognize that this metal was zinc. He further observed that a similar metal, which he named from some unknown reasons "ZINCUM" arose under similar circumstances in Silesia during smelting.

Min­er­alien­por­trait Epi­dotDas Mineral Epidot ist vom griechischen Wort "epidosis" abgeleitet, was "Zunahme" oder "Zugabe" bedeutet. Mag­ma­tis­musMagmatismus ist die zusammenfassende Bezeichnung für alle mit dem Magma zusammenhängenden geologischen Prozesse, Vorgänge und Erscheinungen. Der Magmatismus umfasst sowohl den den Plutonismus, d.h., die Prozesse, die zur Bildung von Magmen in der Erde führen, ihre Bewegung verursachen, die Kristallisation steuern, das Aufsteigen, die Bildung der Erdkruste und letzendlich die Erstarrung als auch den Vulkanismus, bei dem das Magma die Oberfläche erreicht und als Lava extrudiert wird. Durch Magmatismus entstehen Magmatite, d.h.magmatische plutonische Gesteine im Erdinneren und vulkanische Gesteine als Folge des Vulkanismus.
