Dev­il's Pul­pitActually, this is a picturesque place in a well-kept forest. Nevertheless, in the past, evil itself is said to have preached to the damned here from a large, solitary, towering rock spur. Today, the term Devil's Pulpit inspires one to play with associations, as do the drawings of agates found here. Their fantastic outlines, coupled with the unusual shape of the secondary rock, evoke images in the viewer that he would not have suspected in a stone. And on the devil's pulpit no longer an evil demon is waiting for the agate collector, but other executive powers threatening with purgatory... a contribution by Klaus Schäfer and others (in german)

The Mu­nich Show 2025The Mineralientage München 2025 – The Munich Show once again showcased a fascinating variety of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Although visitor numbers appeared slightly lower than last year, the fair remained vibrant and diverse. Highlights included the collector displays and the special exhibition on natural resources, while the fossil section was somewhat smaller.
Some visitors expressed a wish for more seating areas, opportunities for exchange, and more eye-catching advertising, yet overall the event left a very positive impression and remains a must-visit for collectors and families alike.

Marien­schacht...Gegenstand des Unternehmens war der Bergbau auf Flußspat, Blei- und Zinkerz und andere beibrechende Mineralien, sowie deren Aufbereitung und Veredelung. Wirtschaftliche Hauptaufgabe der Grube war die Versorgung der Riedel-de Haen AG mit dem für die Flußsäureproduktion im Werk Seelze erforderlichen Säurespat. Grube Staats­bruch... 1804 schreibt Prof. Dr. Georg A. Bertele über Uranglimmer und 1805 Mathias Flurl über zeisiggrünem Uranglimmer, beide schriftlichen Hinweise und auch die Fluoritstufen aus den Sammlungen von Abraham Gottlob Werner und Johann Wolfgang von Goethe sind kein Beweis dafür, dass der Flußspatbergbau im Wölsendorfer Revier schon in der Zeit um 1800 – 1810 begonnen hat, da muss ich Dr. Heinz Ziehr wiedersprechen und auch das handgeschriebene Etikett aus der Fürstenbergsammlung, Donaueschingen, aus der Zeit zwischen 1800 und 1820 ist kein Beleg dafür das hier schon Flußspatbergbau umgegangen ist, denn gesammelt wurde von einer bestimmten Personengruppe schon immer und dazu "musste" ein Stück von Welsenberg (das Dorf Welsenberg (Wölsenberg) ist damit gemeint) gehören, die ohne weiteres am Hang zur Naab hin, am Naabranken und am Ausbiss des Rolandganges, gefunden werden ... Kais­er­s­tuhlGeologisch gesehen ist der Kaiserstuhl ein junges vulkanisches Gebirge ähnlich der Eifel und dem Hegau. Im Alttertiär vor ca. 60 Mio. Jahren wurde mit dem Absinken des Oberrheintalgrabens ein Prozess abgeschlossen, der bereits in der unteren Kreide mit dem Beginn der alpidischen Faltung begonnen hatte: Heraushebung und Überdehnung des variszisch-mesozischen (Trias + unterer Jura) Gebirgsblockes Schwarzwald-Vogesen-Odenwald. Vor etwa 27 Mio. Jahren kam es dann in den am stärksten abgesenkten Teilen des Oberrheintalgrabens am Kaiserstuhl, aber auch in der Eifel, am Hegau, bei Urach und im Odenwald zu einem basischen Vulkanismus.

Pet­ri­fied For­est Na­tio­n­al ParkThe Petrified Forest is primarily a geological park, which owes its origin to the climate and geological events. It is part of the so-called Painted Desert and shows with its various layers a strange and impressive scenery. Characterized by erosion, it is a treasure trove of fossils. The rock formations show a chronicle of the past and give clues about the events of bygone days. In the park you can exposure rock strata until 234 million years ago. The colorful desert hills, the flat mesas and shaped hills attributable primarily to Chinle Formation and are fluvial sediments, caused by water movement. Countless fossilized wood and tree trunks bear witness to a scrumptious earlier fauna.
