Min­er­al por­trait Baryt (in ger­man)In the late Middle Ages massive amount of Baryt which phosphoresced when it was gently heated, were discovered in Italy. This stone was named after its place of discovery "Pietra fosforica di Bologna" (phosphorescent Bologna stone) and was of great interest to alchemists. Although the name baryte has been assigned centuries later, it may be assumed that the Bologna stone is the first description in the literature. A portrait about this famous mineral by Peter Seroka.

Sil­ver - min­er­al­o­gy, min­ing and his­to­rySilver and silver minerals are amongst the most desirabe objects since the beginning of mineral collecting. Silver wires and curls from Kongsberg and Freiberg are the coronation of each mineral collection. Beautiful pyrargyrites and proustites enhance each collector's heatbeat.

However, silver is not only the essence of high-end collecting but has contributed essentially to the history of mankind. Uncountable remain the millions of greek and phenician slaves, middle age european miners and millions of indios who have left their lives for silver.

Silver is one of the seven metals known since thousands of years, already been mentioned in the bible. Mountains of slag in Asia Minor, Arabia and on the agaen islands prove technologies to produce silver from lead ore; knowledges people had been acquainted with since at least 4.000 year B.C. Since the antiquity silver had been used to make finery and ornaments, however, most of this metal was used to stamp coins. The monetary system of many countries was based on silver; the one, who owned silver, was able to finance wars. One of the main pillars of power of Athens, Rome, the Phenicians, the church, the kings and queens of Castilia, the Austrian house of Habsburg and, last not least, of the Americans had been their control over the richest silver mines and the wars, which they made by paying their soldiery with silver coins.

Grube Jo­han­nesschacht im Wölsen­dor­fer Re­vi­erDie Grube Johanneschacht hatte eine der wenigen Aufbereitungsanlagen im Wölsendorfer Revier und daher wurde auch Rohmaterial von anderen Gruben hier angeliefert. Das waren: Grube Max, Grube Hanns und die Aufschlußgrube Lissenthan. Bedeutet das nicht alle Stufen die den Namen Johannesschacht tragen auch aus dieser Grube stammen. Angebote sollten kritisch hinterfragt werden.
Stufen die auf Halde gefunden wurden oder im über Tage Bereich bekommen als Fundortbezeichnung "Halde der Grube Johannesschacht" oder "über Tage Fund Grube Johannesschacht", u.U. noch mit einem entsprechenden Hinweis.
1929 wird erwähnt, daß bis zu einer Teufe von 28 Meter grobspätiger Stinkspat vorgefunden wurde. Uranmineralien wurden erst ab einer Teufe von 18 m angetroffen.

JadeWährend der Kolonialisierung Zentralamerikas (Anfang 16. Jh. bids Anfang 19. Jh.) durch die Spanier entdeckten diese, dass die Einwohner bestimmte grüne Steine als Heilsteine oder Amulette gegen Nierenleiden trugen. Die Spanier nannten diese Steine "piedra de ijada" (etwa Lenden- bzw. Nierenstein, auch als "Piedra de los riñones = Stein der Nieren / für die Nieren" bezeichnet). Der spanische Ausdruck "piedra de ijada" wurde ins Französische als "l’éjade" übernommen und ungefähr im 17. Jahrhundert fälschlich zu "le jade" umgebildet.

Der Begriff wurde in Europa dann auf Jade chinesischer bzw. asiatischer Herkunft ausgeweitet.

Beryl - (Goshenite, Aqua­marine, Emer­ald, Mor­ganite, He­lio­dore ...)Because of its form, color and transparency, Beryl has always fascinated people. Emeralds, aquamarines, heliodors and morganites were and are used for the manufacture of jewelry because of their beauty. The common beryl is the main source of the metal beryllium; 80 % of beryllium ore is mined in the United States. The largest known crystal reached a length of 18 m.

This lavishly researched and very comprehensive portrait by the author Peter Seroka relates to history, name origin, causes of color, occurrences , paragenesis and the use of this mineral and its varieties. Subchapters with numerous photographs and drawings deal with the extraordinary beauty of the mineral. Grube Ro­land... Die Lagerung ist sehr gestört und uneinheitlich. Der Hauptgang ist vom Schacht nach Westen zu gespalten in zwei Parallelgänge, den nördlichen "Arnold-Gang" und den südlichen "Glückauf-Gang", nach circa 200 m treffen sich beide Gänge in einer Scharungszone (Trümmerzone) wieder. Auf der 52 m Sohle wird nach Osten hin ein 3 bis 4 m breiter Gang erwähnt. Die Gangfüllung, soweit man noch im eigentlichen Sinne von einem regelmäßigen Gang sprechen kann, ist so angeordnet, daß in einem verkitteten Haufwerk von +/- veränderten Graniteinschlüssen (z.T. weiss gebleicht in Salbandregion - kaolinisiert - oder grünlich verschmiert - nontronitisiert -) der Stinkspat in +/- großen Adern, Zonen und Häufungen angereichert ...
