Ge­o­log­ic and min­er­a­log­i­cal ex­pe­di­tion through Namibia and the Na­maqua­landReport about a geologic - and geology of deposits excursion through central and southern Namibia as well as the Namaqualand bordering to the South and parts of the Northern cape in autumn, 2009., Amongst other localities in Namibia the author visited the tin deposit Uis, the explorations project Namib Lead near Swakopmund, as well as the important mines Rosh Pinah and Scorpion Zinc in the south of Namibia. In the Republic South Africa the trip led to the copper mining region of Okiep as well as the lead zinc mines of Aggeneys and, finally, to the Kalahari manganese ore districts of Postmasburg and Kuruman.

Stack­ing­s­teuerung für Makroauf­nah­men - Selb­st­bauan­lei­tungGute Makroaufnahmen von winzigen Mineralien lassen sich meist nur über digitale Mehrebenenfotografie erreichen. Mehrere Bilder werden übereinander gelegt und die besten Stellen aus den Bildern zusammen gerechnet. Hierzu wird ein Bilderstabel (Stack) in unterschiedlichen, winzigen Abständen vom Objekt (Mineral) aufgenommen. Da es sehr schwierig und zeitaufwändig ist winzigen Abstände mit der Hand einzustellen, gibt es Geräte die dies automatisiert erledigen. Das Objekt oder die Kamera wird in winzigen Schritten entfernt oder heran geführt und jeweils ein Bild ausgelöst. Eine Stacking-Software wie Helicon-Focus oder CombineZM übernimmt später das Zusammenrechnen der Bilder. Diese Anleitung soll einen kostengünstigen Zugang zu dieser Technik ermöglichen.

Seine absolute Höhe (über NN) beträgt 1558 m, er überragt die umgebende Ebene auf einem Sockel von Sedimentgesteinen um etwa 264 m. Seine Basis besitzt einen Durchmesser von ungefähr 300 m, am abgeflachten Gipfelbereich beträgt dieser etwa 120 m.

The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.

Min­er­al Days in Mu­nich 2012 or „The Mu­nich Show“For the 49th year once again the Munich Mineral Show was held. A few years ago under the old leadership the motto almost entirely stood under the theme of minerals and fossils. This year not only the name seems to change away from the "Munich Mineral Show" changing to "The Munich Show". The new exhibition management, led by the young Mr. Keilmann seems not quite knowing where to go or has something bigger in mind. One can imagine something in "Munich Mineral Days", it is difficult in the name "The Munich Show". Min­er­alien­por­trait Stib­nitDas Mineral Antimonit, ein Synonym für Stibnit, bzw. das daraus gewonnene Antimon, wurde bereits in der Bronzezeit, seit etwa 3000 v.Chr. als Zuschlag zu Kupfer verwendet, um Bronze herzustellen. Die Babylonier verwendeten es zum Dekorieren von Lehmziegeln. In China vor über 3000 Jahren v.Chr., in Babylon und Ägypten vor über 2000 Jahren v.Chr. und im alten Rom wurde pulverisierter Antimonit entweder als Puder oder, mit Ölen bzw. Fett gemischt, als Haar- und Augenbrauenfarbe sowie als Schminke (Eyeliner) benutzt, um die Augen größer erscheinen zu lassen. Diese Verwendung hielt bis gegen Ende des 19. Jh. in China und Japan an. In anderen Ländern, in welchen kein Antimonit vorkam, benutzte man Galenit als Schminke. Wann Antimon erstmalig zur Beschichtung von Kupfer sowie zum Scheiden von Gold und Silber angewendet wurde, ist nicht datierbar. - Ein Beitarg von Peter Seroka
