Das Na­tur­wis­sen­schaftliche Mu­se­um Schön­born­er Hof Aschaf­fen­burgIm alten Bau des Schönborner Hofes befindet sich das Naturwissenschaftliche Museum der Stadt Aschaffenburg. Das bereits 1970 eingerichtete Museum zeigt neben einer rund 300 Exemplaren umfassenden ornithologischen Sammlung auch eine sehr sehenswerte und umfangreiche entomologische Sammlung (Insektensammlung). Die im Museum gezeigte Wanzensammlung gilt als eine der größten in Europa. Daneben befindet sich im Museum eine Mineraliensammlung, die einen Eindruck in den früheren Kupferabbau im Spessart gibt.

ZincIin 1546 Georgius Agricola reported about a white metal which is fused to the Rammelsberg lead and silver melter and that you could scrape off. He called this metal "contrefey", because it could imitate gold. Agricola did not recognize that this metal was zinc. He further observed that a similar metal, which he named from some unknown reasons "ZINCUM" arose under similar circumstances in Silesia during smelting.

Min­er­alien­por­trait - TürkisTürkis ist einer der ältesten Edelsteine der Menschheitsgeschichte und wurde schon vor dem Jahre 5.000 v.Chr. von den alten Ägyptern als Schmuckstück und für Einlegearbeiten verwendet. Die vier Gold-Armbänder auf dem mumifizierten Arm der Königin Zar (Ehefrau des zweiten Herrschers der Ersten Dynastie, 3032-3000 v.Chr.) sind mit Türkis belegt. Berühmt sind auch die mit Türkis ausgelegte Totenmaske von Tutenchamun und die vielen weiteren Beigaben (Halsbänder, e.g. Pektorale) aus seinem Grab. Ab der Zeit der ersten ägyptischen Dynastien wurde Türkis dann über 2000 Jahre lang von ägyptischen Sklaven aus den Maghara-Wadi-Gruben auf der Halbinsel Sinai geschürft. Cop­per - one of the old­est me­t­als of mankindCopper was one of the first metals ever extracted and used by humans, and it has made vital contributions to sustaining and improving society since the dawn of civilization.
The metal and its alloys have been used for thousands of years. Copper was first used in coins and ornaments starting about 8000 B.C., and at about 5500 B.C., copper tools helped civilization emerge from the Stone Age. In the Roman era, copper was principally mined on Cyprus, hence the origin of the name of the metal as сyprium (metal of Cyprus), later shortened to сuprum.

The discovery that copper alloyed with tin produces bronze marked the beginning of the Bronze Age at about 3000 B.C.
Copper is easily stretched, molded, and shaped; is resistant to corrosion; and conducts heat and electricity efficiently. As a result, copper was important to early humans and continues to be a material of choice for a variety of domestic, industrial, and high-technology applications today.
