Die his­torischen Eisen­er­zlager­stät­ten im Raum Adorf insbe­son­dere die Grube Chris­tianeDieser Artikel befasst sich mit den Eisenerzlagerstätten im Raum Adorf, die geologisch auch in Teile des Ostsauerlandes übergreifen. Hier wird ein Stück deutscher Bergbaugeschichte zusammengefasst, deren Bedeutung immer im Schatten der großen deutschen Lagerstätten stand. So bin ich bemüht die historischen Zusammenhänge etwas näher zu beleuchten. Viele der hier aufgeführten Informationen zu Orten und Bergwerken sind bereits aus dem Bewusstsein der einheimischen Bevölkerung verschwunden.

Bro­ken Hill in Aus­tralienErste Expeditionen in die Barrier Ranges gab es 1844-46. Silbererz wurde auf dem Grundstück der Thackaringa Schafzucht gefunden. Patrick Green gründete die erste Mine "The Pioneer" 1876. 1883 fand Charles Rasp schwarzes Gestein und vermutete Kassiterit; also schickte er Proben zur Analyse. Darin waren Silber und Blei, aber nicht genug, um wirtschaftlich zu werden. Die Proben, manganhaltiges Eisenerz, stammten aus der Oxidationszone. Im Laufe des Jahres wurden mehr Proben entnommen, die Broken Hill zu einer großen Entdeckung machten.

Die Grube „Mathi­as“ bei Vas­beckAm 13. Mai 1683 wurde laut dem Mutungsregister des Fürstentums Waldeck eine Mutung in der alten „Silberkuhle“ auf Blei, Gold, Silber und was sonst der Herr so beschert, verliehen. Die Grube wurde von Bergleuten aus Clausthal im Harz betrieben. Es wurde über und auch Untertage, wahrscheinlich silberhaltiger Bleiglanz abgebaut. 1747 gab es nochmals einen Hinweis auf den dortigen Bergbau. Die Brüder Götte aus Giershagen schürften dann um 1890 in der Gegend nach Erzen und wurden in der Silberkuhle fündig. Sie fanden in dem Schreinermeister Jung aus dem Hannöverschen einen Geldgeber der 30.000 Mark in den Bergbau steckte. Im Jahre 1893 erfolgte die Verleihung und ein Jahr später 1894 die Vereinigung der Bergwerksfelder „Mathias 1 bis 12“ zu einem Bergwerksfeld. - Ein Bericht von Ingo Löffler

Emeralds, aquamarines, heliodors and morganites were and are used for the manufacture of jewelry because of their beauty. The common beryl is the main source of the metal beryllium; 80 % of beryllium ore is mined in the United States. The largest known crystal reached a length of 18 m.

This lavishly researched and very comprehensive portrait by the author Peter Seroka relates to history, name origin, causes of color, occurrences , paragenesis and the use of this mineral and its varieties. Subchapters with numerous photographs and drawings deal with the extraordinary beauty of the mineral. Each chapter itself is a separate portrait of a distinctive variety and its characteristics, occurrences, use and history.

Min­er­al Days in Mu­nich 2012 or „The Mu­nich Show“For the 49th year once again the Munich Mineral Show was held. A few years ago under the old leadership the motto almost entirely stood under the theme of minerals and fossils. This year not only the name seems to change away from the "Munich Mineral Show" changing to "The Munich Show". The new exhibition management, led by the young Mr. Keilmann seems not quite knowing where to go or has something bigger in mind. One can imagine something in "Munich Mineral Days", it is difficult in the name "The Munich Show". How long people processed galena as main ore for the production of lead is unknown. As lead inter alia used as an additive to various melts (e.g. to bronze and the salt-cementation process for gold extraction) one can assume that the properties of this mineral were known before 3000 BC. Other sources speak of a history of lead about 7000-9000 years BC back.

TwinsThe study of twins starts due to the very first beginnings of crystallography as a science. Not negligible for this reason, the idea or the concept of a twin crystal are often associated with a macroscopic building. Modern studies at the nano scale have shown that the formation of twins can occur at a very early stage of crystal growing. Based on these findings, it does beg the request to reconsider the formation mechanisms, and adjacency to the newly different categories. (Text in german)
