Die Lithothek der Münch­en­er Mi­cro­moun­ter„Was soll nur aus meiner Micromount-Sammlung werden, wenn ich selbst einmal nicht mehr sammeln kann? Sie enthält doch Stücke von einmaliger Ästhetik, von längst erloschenen Fundstellen oder größter Seltenheit. Das alles droht unterzugehen, weil nach mir niemand den Wert erkennt, der in den zunächst unscheinbar wirkenden Döschen steckt.“ Dieser Gedanke wird bei vielen Sammlern von Micromounts diskutiert. Dabei wird die oben genannte Befürchtung immer wieder geäußert. Weniger häufig wird eine andere Frage offen angesprochen, die aber dennoch viele Sammler bewegt: „Soll meine Sammlerleistung, ein wichtiger Teil meines Lebens, gänzlich in Vergessenheit geraten?“

Mendig am Laach­er See in der EifelZu Beginn des Jahres 1973 entdeckte der Schmucksteinschleifer Philip Hobein aus Kirschweiler bei Idar Oberstein hinter dem Restaurant 'Laacher Mühle' einige blaue Körner kristalliner Enstehung. Diese Körner weckten sein Interesse, zumal er schon einige Erfahrung im Schliff verschiedener, nicht als Schmucksteine bekannter Mineralien hatte. In seiner Werkstatt versah er diese xenomorphen Körner mit einem Fazettschliff. Das Resultat war die Geburt eines neuen Schmucksteins von saphirblauer Farbe und sehr schöner Transparenz - dem Mineral Hauyn, benannt nach dem französischen Kristallographen R. J. Haüy (1743 bis 1822) (Brunn-Neergard, 1807).

Min­er­alien­por­trait: Tan­tal, Niob und Col­tanDas Element Tantal wurde 1802 vom schwedischen Chemiker Anders Gustav EKEBERG sowohl in einem Tantalit-Erz aus Kimito in Finnland als auch in Yttrotantalit aus Ytterby in Schweden gefunden. Er trennte ein sehr beständiges Oxid (Tantal(V)-oxid) ab, das sich in keiner Säure löste. Benannt ist es nach Tantalos, einer Figur aus der griechischen Mythologie. Diesen Namen wählte Ekeberg, um auf das Unvermögen, auch bei großer Menge an Säure nichts von dieser aufnehmen zu können, anzuspielen.

Etwas früher, im Jahr 1801, beschrieb der englische Chemiker Charles HATCHETT seine Analyse eines Minerals namens Columbit, benannt nach seinem Fundort in Nordamerika (zu dieser Zeit allgemein als Columbia bezeichnet). Das von ihm untersuchte Referenzmuster des Minerals hatte im Britischen Museum bereits seit 1753 gelegen. Er beschrieb das Mineral als "...einen schweren schwarzen Stein mit goldenen Streifen..." . Als Quelle des Minerals gab er Mr. Winthrop an, den ersten Gouverneur von Connecticut. Hattchet berichtete, dass das Mineral ...

The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.
