Cop­per - one of the old­est me­t­als of mankindCopper was one of the first metals ever extracted and used by humans, and it has made vital contributions to sustaining and improving society since the dawn of civilization.
The metal and its alloys have been used for thousands of years. Copper was first used in coins and ornaments starting about 8000 B.C., and at about 5500 B.C., copper tools helped civilization emerge from the Stone Age. In the Roman era, copper was principally mined on Cyprus, hence the origin of the name of the metal as сyprium (metal of Cyprus), later shortened to сuprum.

The discovery that copper alloyed with tin produces bronze marked the beginning of the Bronze Age at about 3000 B.C.
Copper is easily stretched, molded, and shaped; is resistant to corrosion; and conducts heat and electricity efficiently. As a result, copper was important to early humans and continues to be a material of choice for a variety of domestic, industrial, and high-technology applications today.

Die Lithothek der Münch­en­er Mi­cro­moun­ter„Was soll nur aus meiner Micromount-Sammlung werden, wenn ich selbst einmal nicht mehr sammeln kann? Sie enthält doch Stücke von einmaliger Ästhetik, von längst erloschenen Fundstellen oder größter Seltenheit. Das alles droht unterzugehen, weil nach mir niemand den Wert erkennt, der in den zunächst unscheinbar wirkenden Döschen steckt.“ Dieser Gedanke wird bei vielen Sammlern von Micromounts diskutiert. Dabei wird die oben genannte Befürchtung immer wieder geäußert. Weniger häufig wird eine andere Frage offen angesprochen, die aber dennoch viele Sammler bewegt: „Soll meine Sammlerleistung, ein wichtiger Teil meines Lebens, gänzlich in Vergessenheit geraten?“

The Mu­nich Show 2025The Mineralientage München 2025 – The Munich Show once again showcased a fascinating variety of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Although visitor numbers appeared slightly lower than last year, the fair remained vibrant and diverse. Highlights included the collector displays and the special exhibition on natural resources, while the fossil section was somewhat smaller.
Some visitors expressed a wish for more seating areas, opportunities for exchange, and more eye-catching advertising, yet overall the event left a very positive impression and remains a must-visit for collectors and families alike.

In­clu­sionsInclusions are inside the crystal enclosed foreign materials like liquids, gases, hydrocarbons (oil, asphalt), sediment, NaCl, as well as other minerals or crystals. Inclusions can be a sort of fingerprint of the place of dicovery. Thus inclusions show us under which geologic conditions minerals had formed. This allows conclusions on the place of discovery.

The article deals with the different kinds of inclusions, her conditions of build, which minerals do often have inclusions and how they appear.

Special chapters deal with the fluorite deposits and global settings, the mining of fluorspar and ore processing; One chapter shows the development of fluorite collecting in the past and now.

The most comprehensive part of the book is dedicated to the mineral's worldwide deposits, describing the best known old, classic and modern occurrences in 96 countries . A great number of mineral and mining photographs accompany each chapter, showing the characteristics of most fluorites from a specific deposit.

St. Joachim­sthal (Jachy­mov)Kaiser Siegmund schenkte seinem Kanzler Graf Kaspar Schlick die Herrschaft um die Stadt Schlackenwerth (Ostrov) 1434. Um diese Zeit dürfte schon in der Umgebung von Joachimsthal ein kleiner Bergbau umgegangen sein. Die Ansiedlung hieß Konradsgrün. Ein Nachfahre begründete mit anderen zusammen 1515 eine erste Gewerkschaft. Wobei 1515 für die ersten Erzfunde steht. 1516 weiß man von reicher Ausbeute an Silber. Dies lockte boom-artig viele Deutsche und Tiroler in das neugegründete Joachimsthal. Graf Schlick ließ zum Schutz die Burg Freudenstein erbauen. 1519 begann er mit der Prägung der Schlicken- bzw. Die Uran­lager­stätte im Krunkel­bach­tal bei Menzen­sch­wandDie Uranerzgänge des Krunkelbachtales liegen am Nordhang des Krunkelbaches im Einzugsgebiet des Feldberges, unterhalb des Rabenfelsens in 955 m Höhe. Es handelt sich um die Gänge 1, 2, 12 und 13 sowie den unbauwürdigen Waldschratgang und ein nahe des Mundloches von Stollen II in den 1960-er Jahren erschürftes kupferreiches Gangtrum (Torbernit, Cuprosklodowskit neben Cu-Sulfiden!!!) von Gang 12 (Markl & Wolfsried, 2011). Daneben treten noch unterschiedlich stark erzführende Trümer auf.

Menzenschwand, ist heute ein beschauliches Dorf, das vor allem vom Tourismus lebt und zu St. Blasien gehört. Menzenschwand umfasst das Gebiet von der Menzenschwander Kluse im Süden an der Straße Bernau-St. Blasien über die Höhen zwischen dem Ort und Äule am Schluchsee bis zum Talschluss der Menzenschwander Alb nördlich des Ortes.
