Flu­o­reszenz von Min­er­alienDie Fluoreszenz wurde zum ersten Mal beim Fluorit - einem Calcium-Fluorid - beobachtet (daher auch die Bezeichnung). Fluoreszenz beginnt sofort mit der Anregung durch die Lichtquelle und endet auch mit ihr (im Gegensatz dazu ist Phosphoreszenz ein Nachleuchten). Unter Tageslicht-Fluoreszenz versteht man eine Fluoreszenz, die durch den UV-Anteil im natürlichen Licht verursacht wird und z.B. manche Fluorite unter natürlichem bzw. künstlichen Licht andersfarbig erscheinen lässt.

Min­er­alien­por­trait Va­na­dinitIn den späten 1790er Jahren (andere Quelle: 1801) entdeckte der spanische Mineraloge Andrés Manuel del Rio ein bis dato unbekanntes rötlichbraunes Mineral mit hexagonalen, fass-ähnlichen Kristallen im San Damian Firstenbau der Grube Lomo del Toro im Municipio Zimapán, Provinz Hidalgo, Mexiko. Aus seinen Analysen schloss er, dass dieses Mineral Blei sowie einen bisher unbekannten Bestandteil, eventuell ein neues Element, enthält. Er nannte das Mineral "plomo rojo de Zimapán" bzw. "brown lead" (rotes Blei von Zimapán; resp. braunes Blei) und sandte alle seine Aufzeichnungen über den Fund sowie Muster des Minerals an seinen guten Freund, Baron Alexander von Humboldt nach Europa, um diese Spezies weiter untersuchen zu lassen. Humboldt hatte Mexiko von 1804 bis 1808 besucht und befand sich auf der Rückreise nach Europa. In­clu­sionsInclusions are inside the crystal enclosed foreign materials like liquids, gases, hydrocarbons (oil, asphalt), sediment, NaCl, as well as other minerals or crystals. Inclusions can be a sort of fingerprint of the place of dicovery. Thus inclusions show us under which geologic conditions minerals had formed. This allows conclusions on the place of discovery.

The article deals with the different kinds of inclusions, her conditions of build, which minerals do often have inclusions and how they appear.
