Mag­ne­sitw­erk - Hoch­filzen1908 Entdeckung der Magnesitlagerstätte auf der Millstätter Alpe in Kärnten durch den Bergbauingenieur Josef Hörhager. Der Deutsch-Amerikaner Emil Winter erwirbt die Schürfrechte und gründet die Austro-American Magnesite Group, die in Radenthein mit der Errichtung eines beachtlichen Magnesitwerkes begann.
1925 wurden die Magnesit-Lagerstätten am Weißenstein und der Rettenwand bei Hochfilzen in Tirol entdeckt.
1928 sicherte sich die Austro-American Magnesite Group die Abbaurechte dafür und fusionierte mit der Allgemeinen Automobil G.m.b.H. in Wien zur Austro-American Magnesite Company. Im gleichen Jahr wurde mit dem Abbau im Untertagebetrieb begonnen.

San Ti­m­o­teo Mine at La Union min­ing area, Mur­cia, SpanienGypsum needels and blue Baryte have made this mine known for mineral collectors. A recent report from Sept. 2012 shows that good finds are still possible. To visit this mine is relatively easy. The evacuation of the gypsum needels on the other hand is more difficult. Die Man­gan­grube Krett­nich... Erst knapp 50 Jahre später liegen wieder Nachrichten vor, und zwar Abrechnungen aus den Jahren 1782 bis 1791. Die damaligen Pächter waren die Krettnicher Einwohner Nicolaus Wiesen, Matthias Finkler und Johann Bathis, Ersterer hatte in den 10 Jahren 346 Rtl., der zweite 95 Rtl. und der letzte 146 Rtl. eingenommen. Hauptabnehmer waren Johannes Scherer in Scheuern, Pastor Anhäuser in Lockweiler, sowie Johannes Bördeler (Birtel) in Krettnich, die offenbar das abgenommene Erz auf eigene Rechnung weitervertrieben. Ge­o­log­ic Por­trait - Weather­ing and Ero­sionWeathering is a continous process by which rocks are broken down and decomposed by the action of humidity (rain), wind, temperature changes, chemical agents, bacteria and plants. Being an integral part of the rocks cycle, weathering is the initial stage towards denudation, which results in general lowering of the land surface. An essential feature is that it affects rocks in situ; no transportation is involved. This is the factor which dsitinguishes weathering from erosion. The two main types of weathering are mechanical and chemical. Climate plays a leading role in weathering, whereas chemical weathering is almost absent in arid regions. Effecrtive freeze-thaw cycles are confined to cold temperate and permafrost climates.

Erosion is part of the process of denudation which involves the wearing away of land surface by mechanical action of transported debris. Main cycles of erosion are glaciers, wind erosion, marine erosion.
