Min­er­al Days in Mu­nich 2012 or „The Mu­nich Show“For the 49th year once again the Munich Mineral Show was held. A few years ago under the old leadership the motto almost entirely stood under the theme of minerals and fossils. This year not only the name seems to change away from the "Munich Mineral Show" changing to "The Munich Show". The new exhibition management, led by the young Mr. Keilmann seems not quite knowing where to go or has something bigger in mind. One can imagine something in "Munich Mineral Days", it is difficult in the name "The Munich Show". Gold­gräber­dorf... Schon die Taurisker und insbesondere die Pisontier, Bewohner des ehemaligen Mittel-Norikum, wussten um die reichern Goldadern und verlegten sich auf die Ausbeutung derselben so wie auf die Goldwäscherei in den Flüssen und Bächen. Die Armuth des Landes machte den Bergbau zu einer ihrer Haupterwerbsquellen. Bei dem Umstande, als viele der Erzgänge edel zu Tage ausbeissen, auch oft blos nur aus einer lehmigen goldhaltigen Masse (Besteg) bestanden, die mit den primitivsten Werkzeugen gewonnen werden konnte, war die Bearbeitung leicht. Sowohl in Kärnten als in Salzburg kann man mehrere in Schrammarbeit getriebene Stollen sehen, die mit Sicherheit entweder aus jener Zeitperiode oder der darauffolgenden unter den Römern herrühren. The word pyrite is derived from the Greek "pyrites lithos" (derived pyr = fire and lithos = stone) and describes a characteristic of the mineral, when rubbing against steel or flint (flint) to generate sparks. In prehistoric tombs pyrite concretions and unrolled pyrite where found, which supposed to be used for lighting a fire. (Article in German)

Berg­bau am Kien­berg (Rausch­berg, Rauschen­berg)Das Gebiet um Ruhpolding und Inzell ist heutzutage ein geradezu idyllischer Fleck, das als Ferienregion Wanderern, Gleitschirmfliegern, Skifahrern und Langläufern zahlreiche Möglichkeiten bietet, ihrem Hobby nachzugehen. Durch die großen Wintersportereignisse - Eisschnelllauf in Inzell, Biathlon in Ruhpolding -, aber auch durch das Skigebiet Winkelmoosalm - von Ruhpolding kommend auf dem Weg zum Parkplatz Seegatterl fährt man am Rauschberg vorbei - haben die östlichen Chiemgauer Alpen einen überregionalen Bekanntheitsgrad gewonnen.

Dabei hat diese Ecke der Alpen auch eine ganz andere Tradition. Über Jahrhunderte - grob von der Mitte des 16. Jh. bis in die Anfänge des 20. Jh. - wurde hier Bergbau betrieben, und das Metall auch weiterverarbeitet. Sil­ver - min­er­al­o­gy, min­ing and his­to­rySilver and silver minerals are amongst the most desirabe objects since the beginning of mineral collecting. Silver wires and curls from Kongsberg and Freiberg are the coronation of each mineral collection. Beautiful pyrargyrites and proustites enhance each collector's heatbeat.

However, silver is not only the essence of high-end collecting but has contributed essentially to the history of mankind. Uncountable remain the millions of greek and phenician slaves, middle age european miners and millions of indios who have left their lives for silver.

Silver is one of the seven metals known since thousands of years, already been mentioned in the bible. Mountains of slag in Asia Minor, Arabia and on the agaen islands prove technologies to produce silver from lead ore; knowledges people had been acquainted with since at least 4.000 year B.C. Since the antiquity silver had been used to make finery and ornaments, however, most of this metal was used to stamp coins. The monetary system of many countries was based on silver; the one, who owned silver, was able to finance wars. One of the main pillars of power of Athens, Rome, the Phenicians, the church, the kings and queens of Castilia, the Austrian house of Habsburg and, last not least, of the Americans had been their control over the richest silver mines and the wars, which they made by paying their soldiery with silver coins.

Die Grube „Mathi­as“ bei Vas­beckAm 13. Mai 1683 wurde laut dem Mutungsregister des Fürstentums Waldeck eine Mutung in der alten „Silberkuhle“ auf Blei, Gold, Silber und was sonst der Herr so beschert, verliehen. Die Grube wurde von Bergleuten aus Clausthal im Harz betrieben. Es wurde über und auch Untertage, wahrscheinlich silberhaltiger Bleiglanz abgebaut. 1747 gab es nochmals einen Hinweis auf den dortigen Bergbau. Die Brüder Götte aus Giershagen schürften dann um 1890 in der Gegend nach Erzen und wurden in der Silberkuhle fündig. Sie fanden in dem Schreinermeister Jung aus dem Hannöverschen einen Geldgeber der 30.000 Mark in den Bergbau steckte. Im Jahre 1893 erfolgte die Verleihung und ein Jahr später 1894 die Vereinigung der Bergwerksfelder „Mathias 1 bis 12“ zu einem Bergwerksfeld. - Ein Bericht von Ingo Löffler
