Gewöhnlich folgte dem Aussterben eine vermehrte Ausbreitung der überlebenden Arten, zurückzuführen auf das Ausfallen von Konku ... moreIm Laufe der erdgeschichtlichen Entwicklung kam es wiederholt zu Ereignissen, die zum Aussterben zahlreicher Arten innerhalb einer verhältnismäßig kurzen Zeitspanne führten. Gewöhnlich folgte dem Aussterben eine vermehrte Ausbreitung der überlebenden Arten, zurückzuführen auf das Ausfallen von Konkurrenten im selben Lebensraum. Unterschieden wird zwischen Faunenschnitten, in denen viele Tierarten ausstarben und Florenschnitten, in denen viele Pflanzenarten verschwanden und durch neue ersetzt wurden. Belege dieses Massenaussterbens sind die heute gefundenen Fossilien. |
