Peter Seroka has addressed the issue in several years of work and has written an up-to-date geological summary. He dedicated his work to the 15 th anniversary of Mineralienatlas. The work gives detailed information regarding the origin of deposits, the different types of deposits and their classification. Examples of economically important deposits complete the chapters. Min­er­al por­trait ara­g­onite (ger­man)Aragonite is a calcium carbonate, chemically identical with calcite. The mineral calcite, however, differs from Aragonite due to its internal crystal structure. While the crystal system of calcite is trigonal, the system of aragonite is rhombic. Dense masses of small aragonite crystals are difficult to distinguish from calcite, but they are larger, they show a distinct habit.

Die Man­gan­grube Krett­nich... Erst knapp 50 Jahre später liegen wieder Nachrichten vor, und zwar Abrechnungen aus den Jahren 1782 bis 1791. Die damaligen Pächter waren die Krettnicher Einwohner Nicolaus Wiesen, Matthias Finkler und Johann Bathis, Ersterer hatte in den 10 Jahren 346 Rtl., der zweite 95 Rtl. und der letzte 146 Rtl. eingenommen. Hauptabnehmer waren Johannes Scherer in Scheuern, Pastor Anhäuser in Lockweiler, sowie Johannes Bördeler (Birtel) in Krettnich, die offenbar das abgenommene Erz auf eigene Rechnung weitervertrieben. Berg­bau am Kien­berg (Rausch­berg, Rauschen­berg)Das Gebiet um Ruhpolding und Inzell ist heutzutage ein geradezu idyllischer Fleck, das als Ferienregion Wanderern, Gleitschirmfliegern, Skifahrern und Langläufern zahlreiche Möglichkeiten bietet, ihrem Hobby nachzugehen. Durch die großen Wintersportereignisse - Eisschnelllauf in Inzell, Biathlon in Ruhpolding -, aber auch durch das Skigebiet Winkelmoosalm - von Ruhpolding kommend auf dem Weg zum Parkplatz Seegatterl fährt man am Rauschberg vorbei - haben die östlichen Chiemgauer Alpen einen überregionalen Bekanntheitsgrad gewonnen.

Dabei hat diese Ecke der Alpen auch eine ganz andere Tradition. Über Jahrhunderte - grob von der Mitte des 16. Jh. bis in die Anfänge des 20. Jh. - wurde hier Bergbau betrieben, und das Metall auch weiterverarbeitet.
