The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.

Min­er­alien­por­trait To­pas... Der Erstere, der edle Topas, ist durchsichtig und durchscheinend, von starkem Glasglanze, und am häufigsten von gelber, besonders weingelber, Farbe, aber auch wasserhell, graulich-, grünlich- und gelblichweiß, oder Berg- und Seladongrün. Bei dem Sächsischen ist die weingelbe Farbe die herrschende und von allen Graden der Höhe; bei dem brasilianischen die honiggelbe. Die Übergänge ins rosenrothe, meergrüne, bläuliche etc. sind oft nur schwach, doch so merklich, daß man sie gewahrt. Er kommt gewöhnlich als vier= oder achtseitige Säule vor, die beim Brasilianischen mit vier, sechs auch acht Flächen zugespitzt, beim Sächsischen aber meistentheils mit einer sechsseitigen Fläche abgestumpft ist. Die Seitenflächen der Kristalle sind stets in der Länge gestreift; die übrigen Flächen aber glatt. Der Querbruch ist gerad= und vollkommenblättrig, der Längenbruch hingegen kleinmuschlig. Min­er­alien­por­trait WulfenitDas Mineral Wulfenit wurde - so die allgemein verbreitete Version bzw. der allgemein verbreitete Irrtum - Ende des 18. Jh. vom österreichischen Jesuiten (Abbé), Botaniker und Mineralogen Franz Freiherr von Wulfen entdeckt und von ihm in seiner berühmten "Abhandlung vom Kärnthnerischen Bleyspathe" im Jahr 1785 beschrieben und gezeichnet, obwohl es bereits 1772 eine Veröffentlichung des Siebenbürgener Mineralogen und Geologen Ignaz von Born gab, mit dem Titel: "Plumbum spatosum flavo-rubrum pellucidum" (von Annaberg in Niederösterreich). Von Wulfen selbst zitierte den berühmten Bergrat Scopoli, welcher in seiner "Einleitung zur Kenntnis der Fossilien" den kärntherischen Bleyspat als " ungestaltete, ockergelblichte, versteinerte Bleyerde, welche im Zentner 27 bis 30 Pfund Blei enthält " beschrieb... ein Beitrag von Peter Seroka

Min­er­al por­trait ara­g­onite (ger­man)Aragonite is a calcium carbonate, chemically identical with calcite. The mineral calcite, however, differs from Aragonite due to its internal crystal structure. While the crystal system of calcite is trigonal, the system of aragonite is rhombic. Dense masses of small aragonite crystals are difficult to distinguish from calcite, but they are larger, they show a distinct habit.

The Mu­nich Mi­cro­moun­ters and their Lithothek„What will be the fate of my collection once I will no longer be able to collect? There are specimens of unique beauty and extreme rarity in the collection, pieces that cannot be replaced since some localities are closed or have been obliterated. All this might be thrown away because not many people realise the value and importance hidden in these little unimpressive boxes”. Many micromounters are worried by these considerations and other factors. “My collection is an important part of my life and of my personality. If my collection dissapears, I too, will cease to exist without trace”. We, the Micromounters of the Münchener Mineralienfreunde, are no exception. Many times the future of our collections was subject of our discussions and conversations. Children and grand children are not always appreciative of their parents’ or grandparents’ passion.

Kies­grube Oh­le & Lau in Groß Pam­pau... Forschungsbohrungen (1988, Groß Pampau I & II) ergaben, dass ab ca. 7 m Tiefe der Tonschichten das mittlere Langenfeldium, ab ca. 19 m das untere Langenfeldium und ab ca. 29 m das obere Reinbekium beginnnt. Während des Hauptabbaus (Seeseite) in Groß Pampau waren ca. 17 m der Glimmertonschichten mehr oder weniger zugänglich, als Ton für die Deponieabdeckung abgebaut wurde. Anhand der aufgelesenen Fossilien (mehr als 150 Arten konnten gefunden werden) und dem Vergleich dieser Arten mit heute noch in gemäßigteren Regionen lebenden Vertretern (und deren Lebensbedingungen), geht man von einer damals durchschnittlichen Wassertiefe von 50 - 80 m aus. ...
