Kün­stliche Kris­talle - SpinellSpinellsynthesen finden sich im Handel als komplette Schmelzbirnen, die ab und an einen annähernd quadratischen, aber abgerundeten Querschnitt besitzen. In der Nähe des Keimes finden sich selten abgerundete Oktaederflächen.

Im Gegensatz dazu sind Korundbirnen in der Regel der Länge nach gespalten, um die inneren Spannungen im Kristall zu lösen. Unlike in Munich where you find the stands clear and concentrated in halls, the organizers use single fenced-off parts of the city to place the stands on the streets. The Mu­nich Show 2025The Mineralientage München 2025 – The Munich Show once again showcased a fascinating variety of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. Although visitor numbers appeared slightly lower than last year, the fair remained vibrant and diverse. Highlights included the collector displays and the special exhibition on natural resources, while the fossil section was somewhat smaller.
Some visitors expressed a wish for more seating areas, opportunities for exchange, and more eye-catching advertising, yet overall the event left a very positive impression and remains a must-visit for collectors and families alike.

The Ts­in­gys of Mada­gas­carOne of Madagascar's geological specialties are the so-called Tsingy: bizarre, at first sight hostile Karst landscapes, though form, due to the inaccessibility, a refugial area for some species. The word Tsingy means "walking one tip-toes" or "where one cannot walk bare-foot" in Malagasy language, an accurate description for the partially razor-sharp rock formations which can reach 20 m in height and with ends which can be as thin as pencils.

Best known and most impressive are the Tsingy of Bemaraha in the West of the island and the Tsingy of Ankarana in the North, both widespread Karst areas. In the North, as well, about 10 km south of the city of Antsiranana, one can find the Red Tsingy which have been washed out of the lateritic layer of earth.

Henneberg was enfeoffed with the Bergregal by Friedrich den II. At that time one had discovered mineralised steep copper slate near Roda and on the Sturmheide. Presumably, individual miners had been enfeoffed, who extracted copper slate and sandstone in accordance with the mining freedom. Exkur­sion Marokko 2013 - Achat­sam­mel­tour... Da einige Hotels in Asni durch Umbaumaßnahmen geschlossen waren, erwies sich die Suche nach einer Unterkunft zunächst etwas problematisch aber auch zum Vorteil, weil ein sehr gepflegtes, familiär geführtes Hotel mit üppigen Mahlzeiten bei einem günstigen Preis das Ergebnis war und uns mehr als zufrieden stellte. Auch war die Lage ideal für die kommenden Sammeltouren.

Gemeinsam ging es am darauf folgenden Tag früh auf Achatsuche. Die Gemeinsamkeit war aber nur anfänglich, denn durch das riesige Fundgebiet verlor sich die Gruppe relativ schnell aus den Augen. Als der größte Teil der Gruppe sich später wieder traf und weitere Erkundungen auf unbekanntem Terrain unternahmen, geschätzte Tour bis zum späten Nachmittag ca. 20 Km, durchsuchte Roland die Nähere Umgebung von Asni mit ca. 5 Km.

Bewahrheitet hat sich das Sprichwort „Warum in die Ferne schweifen, sieh das Gute liegt so nah“. Nachdem Roland mit prallen Taschen schon am Hotel war, kamen sichtlich erschöpft die anderen Teilnehmer mit geringer Ausbeute aus den Weiten der Berge zurück. Am weiteren Tag wurden Erkundungen nach neuen Fundstellen unternommen und hier hieß es „Gut Ding will Weile haben“ denn der Vormittag erwies sich als nicht erfolgreich, was der Nachmittag wieder zu unserer Freude ausglich und allen Sammlern gute Funde bescherte...
