Das Na­tur­wis­sen­schaftliche Mu­se­um Schön­born­er Hof Aschaf­fen­burgIm alten Bau des Schönborner Hofes befindet sich das Naturwissenschaftliche Museum der Stadt Aschaffenburg. Das bereits 1970 eingerichtete Museum zeigt neben einer rund 300 Exemplaren umfassenden ornithologischen Sammlung auch eine sehr sehenswerte und umfangreiche entomologische Sammlung (Insektensammlung). Die im Museum gezeigte Wanzensammlung gilt als eine der größten in Europa. Daneben befindet sich im Museum eine Mineraliensammlung, die einen Eindruck in den früheren Kupferabbau im Spessart gibt.

Mag­ma­tis­musMagmatismus ist die zusammenfassende Bezeichnung für alle mit dem Magma zusammenhängenden geologischen Prozesse, Vorgänge und Erscheinungen. Der Magmatismus umfasst sowohl den den Plutonismus, d.h., die Prozesse, die zur Bildung von Magmen in der Erde führen, ihre Bewegung verursachen, die Kristallisation steuern, das Aufsteigen, die Bildung der Erdkruste und letzendlich die Erstarrung als auch den Vulkanismus, bei dem das Magma die Oberfläche erreicht und als Lava extrudiert wird. Durch Magmatismus entstehen Magmatite, d.h.magmatische plutonische Gesteine im Erdinneren und vulkanische Gesteine als Folge des Vulkanismus. Sil­ver - min­er­al­o­gy, min­ing and his­to­rySilver and silver minerals are amongst the most desirabe objects since the beginning of mineral collecting. Silver wires and curls from Kongsberg and Freiberg are the coronation of each mineral collection. Beautiful pyrargyrites and proustites enhance each collector's heatbeat.

However, silver is not only the essence of high-end collecting but has contributed essentially to the history of mankind. Uncountable remain the millions of greek and phenician slaves, middle age european miners and millions of indios who have left their lives for silver.

Silver is one of the seven metals known since thousands of years, already been mentioned in the bible. Mountains of slag in Asia Minor, Arabia and on the agaen islands prove technologies to produce silver from lead ore; knowledges people had been acquainted with since at least 4.000 year B.C. Since the antiquity silver had been used to make finery and ornaments, however, most of this metal was used to stamp coins. The monetary system of many countries was based on silver; the one, who owned silver, was able to finance wars. One of the main pillars of power of Athens, Rome, the Phenicians, the church, the kings and queens of Castilia, the Austrian house of Habsburg and, last not least, of the Americans had been their control over the richest silver mines and the wars, which they made by paying their soldiery with silver coins.

Min­er­alien­por­trait Stib­nitDas Mineral Antimonit, ein Synonym für Stibnit, bzw. das daraus gewonnene Antimon, wurde bereits in der Bronzezeit, seit etwa 3000 v.Chr. als Zuschlag zu Kupfer verwendet, um Bronze herzustellen. Die Babylonier verwendeten es zum Dekorieren von Lehmziegeln. In China vor über 3000 Jahren v.Chr., in Babylon und Ägypten vor über 2000 Jahren v.Chr. und im alten Rom wurde pulverisierter Antimonit entweder als Puder oder, mit Ölen bzw. Fett gemischt, als Haar- und Augenbrauenfarbe sowie als Schminke (Eyeliner) benutzt, um die Augen größer erscheinen zu lassen. Diese Verwendung hielt bis gegen Ende des 19. Jh. in China und Japan an. In anderen Ländern, in welchen kein Antimonit vorkam, benutzte man Galenit als Schminke. Ge­o­log­ic and min­er­a­log­i­cal ex­pe­di­tion through Namibia and the Na­maqua­landReport about a geologic - and geology of deposits excursion through central and southern Namibia as well as the Namaqualand bordering to the South and parts of the Northern cape in autumn, 2009., Amongst other localities in Namibia the author visited the tin deposit Uis, the explorations project Namib Lead near Swakopmund, as well as the important mines Rosh Pinah and Scorpion Zinc in the south of Namibia. In the Republic South Africa the trip led to the copper mining region of Okiep as well as the lead zinc mines of Aggeneys and, finally, to the Kalahari manganese ore districts of Postmasburg and Kuruman.
