Baufeld Staats­bruch... durch Mineraliensammler und sonstige Informationsquellen ist immer wieder von einem Verbundbergwerk Marienschacht/Johannesschacht die Rede, Mineralstufen werden entsprechend so angeboten oder sind auch so beschriftet, aber einen Verbund hat es zwischen der Grube Marienschacht und der Grube Johannesschacht nicht gegeben, denn von einem Verbund wird nur dann gesprochen, wenn zwei noch tätige Bergwerke miteinander verbunden werden und das war hier nicht der Fall, weil die Grube Johannesschacht bereits stillgelegt war und die Tagesanlagen abgerissen wurden. TwinsThe study of twins starts due to the very first beginnings of crystallography as a science. Not negligible for this reason, the idea or the concept of a twin crystal are often associated with a macroscopic building. Modern studies at the nano scale have shown that the formation of twins can occur at a very early stage of crystal growing. Based on these findings, it does beg the request to reconsider the formation mechanisms, and adjacency to the newly different categories. (Text in german)

The Ts­in­gys of Mada­gas­carOne of Madagascar's geological specialties are the so-called Tsingy: bizarre, at first sight hostile Karst landscapes, though form, due to the inaccessibility, a refugial area for some species. The word Tsingy means "walking one tip-toes" or "where one cannot walk bare-foot" in Malagasy language, an accurate description for the partially razor-sharp rock formations which can reach 20 m in height and with ends which can be as thin as pencils.

Best known and most impressive are the Tsingy of Bemaraha in the West of the island and the Tsingy of Ankarana in the North, both widespread Karst areas. In the North, as well, about 10 km south of the city of Antsiranana, one can find the Red Tsingy which have been washed out of the lateritic layer of earth.

Po­lari­sa­tions­mikroskop... ist ein spezielles Lichtmikroskop, welches linear polarisiertes Licht mit Polarisatoren erzeugt und analysiert. So wird die Doppelbrechung bei optisch anisotropen Mineralen deutlich sichtbar, aber auch optische Aktivitäten können bestimmt werden.. Es dient Petrographen für die kristalloptische Analyse (das mikroskopische Studium) der Gesteine, ihrer Minerale und ihres Gefüges.

Durchsichtige Minerale der Gesteine werden in Dünnschliffen (ca. 0,02 mm) oder als Pulver untersucht. Zu den optischen Eigenschaften, die in dem zu untersuchenden Mineral bestimmt werden können, gehört neben dem Brechungsindex oder den Hauptbrechungsindizes auch die Doppelbrechung (Birefringenz), welche mit Hilfe des Polarisationsmikroskopes im durchfallenden Licht bestimmt wird.
