TwinsThe study of twins starts due to the very first beginnings of crystallography as a science. Not negligible for this reason, the idea or the concept of a twin crystal are often associated with a macroscopic building. Modern studies at the nano scale have shown that the formation of twins can occur at a very early stage of crystal growing. Based on these findings, it does beg the request to reconsider the formation mechanisms, and adjacency to the newly different categories. (Text in german)

Das Felsen­meer in He­mer, Sauer­landIn der gängigen Literatur wird für das Felsenmeer ein Erz mit einem Hämatitanteil von bis zu 80 % angegeben, was hier seit dem 8. oder 9. Jahrhundert n. Chr. wirtschaftlich genutzt wurde, somit ist das Gebiet derzeit der Älteste bekannte Abbau von Eisenstein in Westfalen. Die Bergleute bedienten sich den natürlichen Hohlräumen, erweiterten sie und nutzten sie als Transportwege. Übertage zeugen auch heute noch Schachtöffnungen, Stollenmundlöcher und Halden vom damaligen Bergbaugeschehen.

Man kann sicherlich einen Gehalt von 70 Massenprozent Eisen als - fuer natuerlich vorkommende Erze unerreichbare - Obergrenze als gegeben ansehen. Dies beantwortet natuerlich nicht die Frage nach dem durchschnittlichen Eisengehalt des Hemeraner Erzes und ersetzt auch keine Analysen.

San Ti­m­o­teo Mine at La Union min­ing area, Mur­cia, SpanienGypsum needels and blue Baryte have made this mine known for mineral collectors. A recent report from Sept. 2012 shows that good finds are still possible. To visit this mine is relatively easy. The evacuation of the gypsum needels on the other hand is more difficult. Dev­il's Pul­pitActually, this is a picturesque place in a well-kept forest. Nevertheless, in the past, evil itself is said to have preached to the damned here from a large, solitary, towering rock spur. Today, the term Devil's Pulpit inspires one to play with associations, as do the drawings of agates found here. Their fantastic outlines, coupled with the unusual shape of the secondary rock, evoke images in the viewer that he would not have suspected in a stone.
