Konkre­tio­nen und Knollen ... Konkretionen wurden in den vergangenen Jahrhunderten oft als geologische Kuriositäten betrachtet. Aufgrund der Vielzahl ungewöhnlicher Formen, Größen und Zusammensetzungen wurden sie als Dinosaurier-Eier, Tier- oder Pflanzenfossilien (sogen. Pseudofossilien), extraterrestrischer Abfall oder selbst als vom Menschen erzeugte Artefakte interpretiert. Obwohl für all diese Fehlinterpretationen heute nurmehr ein Lächeln übrigblieb, gibt es immer noch Falschbezeichnungen, resp. unterschiedliche Begriffsdefinitionen, selbst (oder meist) in der geo-wissenschaftlichen Literatur. Peter Seroka has addressed the issue in several years of work and has written an up-to-date geological summary. He dedicated his work to the 15 th anniversary of Mineralienatlas. The work gives detailed information regarding the origin of deposits, the different types of deposits and their classification. Examples of economically important deposits complete the chapters. Dev­il's Pul­pitActually, this is a picturesque place in a well-kept forest. Nevertheless, in the past, evil itself is said to have preached to the damned here from a large, solitary, towering rock spur. Today, the term Devil's Pulpit inspires one to play with associations, as do the drawings of agates found here. Their fantastic outlines, coupled with the unusual shape of the secondary rock, evoke images in the viewer that he would not have suspected in a stone.
