San Ti­m­o­teo Mine at La Union min­ing area, Mur­cia, SpanienGypsum needels and blue Baryte have made this mine known for mineral collectors. A recent report from Sept. 2012 shows that good finds are still possible. To visit this mine is relatively easy. The evacuation of the gypsum needels on the other hand is more difficult. Cop­per - one of the old­est me­t­als of mankindCopper was one of the first metals ever extracted and used by humans, and it has made vital contributions to sustaining and improving society since the dawn of civilization.
The metal and its alloys have been used for thousands of years. Copper was first used in coins and ornaments starting about 8000 B.C., and at about 5500 B.C., copper tools helped civilization emerge from the Stone Age. In the Roman era, copper was principally mined on Cyprus, hence the origin of the name of the metal as сyprium (metal of Cyprus), later shortened to сuprum.

The discovery that copper alloyed with tin produces bronze marked the beginning of the Bronze Age at about 3000 B.C.
Copper is easily stretched, molded, and shaped; is resistant to corrosion; and conducts heat and electricity efficiently. As a result, copper was important to early humans and continues to be a material of choice for a variety of domestic, industrial, and high-technology applications today.

The Mu­nich Mi­cro­moun­ters and their Lithothek„What will be the fate of my collection once I will no longer be able to collect? There are specimens of unique beauty and extreme rarity in the collection, pieces that cannot be replaced since some localities are closed or have been obliterated. All this might be thrown away because not many people realise the value and importance hidden in these little unimpressive boxes”. Many micromounters are worried by these considerations and other factors. “My collection is an important part of my life and of my personality. If my collection dissapears, I too, will cease to exist without trace”. We, the Micromounters of the Münchener Mineralienfreunde, are no exception. Many times the future of our collections was subject of our discussions and conversations. Children and grand children are not always appreciative of their parents’ or grandparents’ passion.

Skarn ist ein alter schwedischer Bergbaubegriff, welcher ursprünglich benutzt wurde, um jede Art silikatischer Ganggesteine oder tauber Gesteine zu beschreiben, welche mit eisenhaltigen sulfidischen Lagerstätten assoziiert waren, welche stellenweise paläoproterozoische Kalksteine im schwedischen Bergbaurevier Peterberg ersetzten. Im modernen Sprachgebrauch bedeutet Skarn Calcium-haltige Silikate jeglichen Alters. Skarne oder "Erlane" sind Gesteine, die bei der Metasomatose aus Kalk- oder Dolomitgesteinen durch Reaktion der Carbonatmineralien mit SiO2 bzw. am magmatischen Intrusivkontakt entstehen. Der gewöhnliche Habitus des Anatas ist dipyramidal, wobei die Doppelpyramide {111} spitzer als die Doppelpyramide {112} ist und der Form nach einem Oktaeder gleichkommt (aber auch rundlich oder flachdipyramidal). Die Enden der Kristalle sind unterschiedlich, oft nur an den Kristallen eine Dipyramide ohne weitere Flächen. Dies ist der am häufigst vorkommende Habitus. Weniger, jedoch nicht selten, treten Dipyramiden mit abgestumpften Spitzen auf, bzw. auch durch eine Basisfläche angeschnitten, welche wiederum von Flächen weiterer Dipyramiden begleitet sein kann. Wirtschaftliche Hauptaufgabe der Grube war die Versorgung der Riedel-de Haen AG mit dem für die Flußsäureproduktion im Werk Seelze erforderlichen Säurespat.
