Peter Seroka has addressed the issue in several years of work and has written an up-to-date geological summary. He dedicated his work to the 15 th anniversary of Mineralienatlas. The work gives detailed information regarding the origin of deposits, the different types of deposits and their classification. Examples of economically important deposits complete the chapters. Aven­tur­in­glas und Gold­flussAls Mineraliensammler erwartet man das Primat der Natur. Wo sie schon war, muss der Mensch erst hin. Überraschend ist daher die Geschichte des Aventurins – bei dem ein Artefakt das Eponym für Erscheinungen im Mineralreich ist. Der Name Aventurin taucht nämlich zum ersten Mal bei der Schöpfung eines besonderen Glases durch Menschenhand auf.

Die kupferhaltigen Gläser „Rubinglas“, „Goldstein“ und „Purpurin“ bilden ein strukturelles Kontinuum. Die Größe der im Glas enthaltenen Kupferkolloide erzeugt die unterschiedlichen Varietäten: im Rubinglas besteht das Kupfer aus transparenten Nanopartikeln, im Purpurin stellt das Kupfer opake mikroskopische Partikel dar und im „Goldstein“ bildet das Kupfer sichtbare Kristalle. Alle drei Varianten waren im Altertum bekannt: Frühe rote, kupferhaltige Gläser stammen aus dem Industal und besitzen ein Alter von viertausend Jahren und eine Vielzahl von Funden aus Pompeji belegen die Erzeugung und Verwendung durch die Römer. How long people processed galena as main ore for the production of lead is unknown. As lead inter alia used as an additive to various melts (e.g. to bronze and the salt-cementation process for gold extraction) one can assume that the properties of this mineral were known before 3000 BC. Other sources speak of a history of lead about 7000-9000 years BC back.

Min­er­al Days in Mu­nich 2012 or „The Mu­nich Show“For the 49th year once again the Munich Mineral Show was held. A few years ago under the old leadership the motto almost entirely stood under the theme of minerals and fossils. This year not only the name seems to change away from the "Munich Mineral Show" changing to "The Munich Show". The new exhibition management, led by the young Mr. Keilmann seems not quite knowing where to go or has something bigger in mind. One can imagine something in "Munich Mineral Days", it is difficult in the name "The Munich Show". Exkur­sion Marokko 2013 - Achat­sam­mel­tour... Da einige Hotels in Asni durch Umbaumaßnahmen geschlossen waren, erwies sich die Suche nach einer Unterkunft zunächst etwas problematisch aber auch zum Vorteil, weil ein sehr gepflegtes, familiär geführtes Hotel mit üppigen Mahlzeiten bei einem günstigen Preis das Ergebnis war und uns mehr als zufrieden stellte. Auch war die Lage ideal für die kommenden Sammeltouren.

Gemeinsam ging es am darauf folgenden Tag früh auf Achatsuche. Die Gemeinsamkeit war aber nur anfänglich, denn durch das riesige Fundgebiet verlor sich die Gruppe relativ schnell aus den Augen. Als der größte Teil der Gruppe sich später wieder traf und weitere Erkundungen auf unbekanntem Terrain unternahmen, geschätzte Tour bis zum späten Nachmittag ca. 20 Km, durchsuchte Roland die Nähere Umgebung von Asni mit ca. 5 Km.

Bewahrheitet hat sich das Sprichwort „Warum in die Ferne schweifen, sieh das Gute liegt so nah“. Nachdem Roland mit prallen Taschen schon am Hotel war, kamen sichtlich erschöpft die anderen Teilnehmer mit geringer Ausbeute aus den Weiten der Berge zurück. Am weiteren Tag wurden Erkundungen nach neuen Fundstellen unternommen und hier hieß es „Gut Ding will Weile haben“ denn der Vormittag erwies sich als nicht erfolgreich, was der Nachmittag wieder zu unserer Freude ausglich und allen Sammlern gute Funde bescherte...
