Die Felsen­wege von St. Ar­nu­al bei Saar­brück­enIm Saarland ist der in Oberer, Mittlerer und Unterer Teil geteilte Buntsandstein, der frühesten Abteilung der Trias, nur mit den beiden jüngeren Stufen vertreten. Der Untere Buntsandstein ist nicht zu finden. In St. Arnual, am Ostabhang des Sonnenberges bei Saarbrücken, sind diese beiden Altersstufen eindrucksvoll aufgeschlossen. Folgt man den sogenannten Felsenwegen entlang der Saar, so erkennt man das Profil, einschließlich der Violetten Grenzzone, die die Trennung vom Mittleren zum Oberen Buntsandstein darstellt.

Berg­bau am Kien­berg (Rausch­berg, Rauschen­berg)Das Gebiet um Ruhpolding und Inzell ist heutzutage ein geradezu idyllischer Fleck, das als Ferienregion Wanderern, Gleitschirmfliegern, Skifahrern und Langläufern zahlreiche Möglichkeiten bietet, ihrem Hobby nachzugehen. Durch die großen Wintersportereignisse - Eisschnelllauf in Inzell, Biathlon in Ruhpolding -, aber auch durch das Skigebiet Winkelmoosalm - von Ruhpolding kommend auf dem Weg zum Parkplatz Seegatterl fährt man am Rauschberg vorbei - haben die östlichen Chiemgauer Alpen einen überregionalen Bekanntheitsgrad gewonnen.

Dabei hat diese Ecke der Alpen auch eine ganz andere Tradition. Über Jahrhunderte - grob von der Mitte des 16. Jh. bis in die Anfänge des 20. Jh. - wurde hier Bergbau betrieben, und das Metall auch weiterverarbeitet. The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.

Al­ten­berg Tin MineThe Altenberg tin mine is well known for its huge surface break left by the mining activities. Among mineral collectors the mine is famous as well for its unique Pycnite deposit, a variety of topaz occurring in massive columnar aggregates up to a length of 30 cm.

The mining started in 1440 and continued, with several ups and downs and some total shut-down periods, until 1991. The mining activities aimed for a plutonic granite body (350 to 400 metre in diameter and hydrothermally mineralized mainly with cassiterite and smaller amounts of wolframite, molybdenite, arsenopyrite, bismuth and others) and managed to extract a total sum of 37 million tons of ore. The huge surface break, called "The Altenberger Pinge", is the result of several roof collapses caused by excessive ore excavation and later on the continued drawing of caved material from the bottom of the fracture zone.

Collectible minerals were rare and small, so the Altenberg tin mine became never as famous as the Freiberg or Ehrenfriedersdorf districts, but its unique geology and mining technology made it quite interesting and worth a closer look.

Grube Her­mine im Wölsen­dor­fer Re­vi­er... In dem Grubenfeld waren vor 1940 mehrere Kleinbetriebe tätig, die die einzelnen Gänge an völlig unterschiedlichen Stellen zuerst in Tagröschen und später mittels Schlepp- (tonnlägiger Schacht, d.h. im Gang abgeteuft) oder Saigerschacht ausgebeutet hatten. An keiner Stelle hat es allerdings, wie es bei allen anderen Gruben üblich war, eine Konzentration an einem bestimmten Standort gegeben und so kam es mit Hilfe der Reichsregierung zwischen 1940 und 1942 dazu, dass die Grube Hermine ins Leben gerufen wurde. Wenn der II. Weltkrieg nicht ausgebrochen wäre, weil Flußspat dringend für Rüstungszwecke gebraucht wurde, dann hätte es unter Umständen die Grube Hermine gar nicht gegeben und die Gänge wären von Grube Cäcilia und Grube Erika abgebaut worden. ...
