Daop­ing Mine... Das seit 1958 blei- und zinkerzfördernde Bergwerk Daoping ist unter Sammlern durch hervorragende, wenn nicht sogar weltbeste Pyromorphitstufen bekannt geworden. Die am Haiyang-Shan-Berg gelegene Mine wurde 2003 mit der nahgelegenen Yangshuo Mine unterirdisch verbunden. Während die Daoping Mine im Bezirk Gongcheng liegt, ist die Yangshuo-Grube Teil des Yangshuo-Bezirkes. Beide Gruben bauen denselben Erzkörper ab. Mendig am Laach­er See in der EifelZu Beginn des Jahres 1973 entdeckte der Schmucksteinschleifer Philip Hobein aus Kirschweiler bei Idar Oberstein hinter dem Restaurant 'Laacher Mühle' einige blaue Körner kristalliner Enstehung. Diese Körner weckten sein Interesse, zumal er schon einige Erfahrung im Schliff verschiedener, nicht als Schmucksteine bekannter Mineralien hatte. In seiner Werkstatt versah er diese xenomorphen Körner mit einem Fazettschliff. Das Resultat war die Geburt eines neuen Schmucksteins von saphirblauer Farbe und sehr schöner Transparenz - dem Mineral Hauyn, benannt nach dem französischen Kristallographen R. J. Haüy (1743 bis 1822) (Brunn-Neergard, 1807).

Special chapters deal with the fluorite deposits and global settings, the mining of fluorspar and ore processing; One chapter shows the development of fluorite collecting in the past and now.

The most comprehensive part of the book is dedicated to the mineral's worldwide deposits, describing the best known old, classic and modern occurrences in 96 countries . A great number of mineral and mining photographs accompany each chapter, showing the characteristics of most fluorites from a specific deposit.

The word pyrite is derived from the Greek "pyrites lithos" (derived pyr = fire and lithos = stone) and describes a characteristic of the mineral, when rubbing against steel or flint (flint) to generate sparks. Vilo­co Mine, La Paz, Bo­livienDie Viloco Mine liegt hoch über der Ortschaft Viloco auf bis zu über 4900m. Die Mine zieht sich dabei über mehrere hundert Meter entlang des Berges in die Höhe. Sie befindet sich im "Cordillera Quimsa Cruz" (Aymara-Sprache) oder "Kimsa Krus" (Quechua-Sprache) oder auch "Tres Cruces" (deutsch "drei Kreuze") genanntem Gebirgszug im Departamento La Paz. Zahlreiche Stolleneingänge und meist verfallene Bergwerksbauten zeugen von einer umfangreichen Bergbautätigkeit. Verschiedene Quellen schreiben auch von Araca Mine, der Name sei quasi austauschbar. Hierbei handelt es sich um einen historischen Namen.

The Mu­nich Mi­cro­moun­ters and their Lithothek„What will be the fate of my collection once I will no longer be able to collect? There are specimens of unique beauty and extreme rarity in the collection, pieces that cannot be replaced since some localities are closed or have been obliterated. All this might be thrown away because not many people realise the value and importance hidden in these little unimpressive boxes”. Many micromounters are worried by these considerations and other factors. “My collection is an important part of my life and of my personality. If my collection dissapears, I too, will cease to exist without trace”. We, the Micromounters of the Münchener Mineralienfreunde, are no exception. Many times the future of our collections was subject of our discussions and conversations. Children and grand children are not always appreciative of their parents’ or grandparents’ passion.
