Min­er­al Por­trait - REE - Rare Earth El­e­mentsThis is the most comprehensive synopsis related to the history, the mineralogy, the exploitation and the most actual economic and political resumé on rare earth elements and their minerals to be found in the internet. REE belong to the most important raw materials of the 21st century, which are used in a large number of key technologies. However, due to the fact that almost 97% of the world's REE are mined and produced in China, REE have become an ongoing political issue, mainly amongst technology providing countries like the US, Japan and Western Europe.

Up­per and Low­er An­te­lope Cany­onBeim Antilope Canyon handelt es sich um eine in Jahrtausenden aus Navajo Sandstein heraus gespülte Schlucht, die durch ihre geschwungen Formen und Lichtspiele einen besonderen Reiz auf den Betrachter ausübt. Beste Zeit für einen Besuch ist Mittag bis Nachmittag, da dann das Beste Farbspiel zu beobachten ist. Ein Besuch sollte nur bei strahlendem Sonnenschein vorgenommen werden, da nur dann die farblichen Differenzen von violett bis leuchtendem Orange richtig zur Geltung kommen. Die unterschiedliche Lichtintensität im Canyon vermittelt den Eindruck von verschiedenfarbigem Sandstein...

The "Eisen­ham­mer" (iron ham­mer) to He­im­buchen­thal The former "Eisenhammer" (iron hammer) to Heimbuchenthal has to show a very interesting history. The hammer mill established at the beginning of the 18th century reached at the end of the 18th century in the possession of the family Rexroth under whose guidance the company came to the full blossom. The squires showed a high social engagement which was reflected in the reimbursement of the workers, but also in the enlargement of the entrance ways. In specially constructed schools up to 30 children were teaches on the hammer mill property. On one, from oaks surrounded cemetery the late squires and their members were buried. In 1891 the company was discontinued and the hammer mill was converted into a court estate. From the industrial monument all buildings except the great smithy are even today in a very good state.

Pet­ri­fied For­est Na­tio­n­al ParkThe Petrified Forest is primarily a geological park, which owes its origin to the climate and geological events. It is part of the so-called Painted Desert and shows with its various layers a strange and impressive scenery. Characterized by erosion, it is a treasure trove of fossils. The rock formations show a chronicle of the past and give clues about the events of bygone days. In the park you can exposure rock strata until 234 million years ago. The colorful desert hills, the flat mesas and shaped hills attributable primarily to Chinle Formation and are fluvial sediments, caused by water movement. Countless fossilized wood and tree trunks bear witness to a scrumptious earlier fauna.
